Why has Melvin Manhoef never signed with the UFC ?

He is somewhat popular in Japan. Lot of fighters dont like exclusive contracts, he might be one of them. He and his management arent stupid, they know he has almost 0 wrestling. ( nr 1 skill you need to have at least at average lvl to succeed in UWC erm pardon UFC. )

That's part of the problem with leg kicks. Your opponent is still dangerous even when hurt.

It's part of the problem in striking arts, there is always going to be an X factor no matter how good a striker is.
This doesn't exist in BJJ as much, a MUCH higher level grappler will never dominate a noob only to get submitted after a few minutes.

I totally agree. That was a huge mistake that shouldn't have done on Manhoef's level. But it's still just not true, that Manhoef got outstroke by Lawler, because of this one big right hand.
 
Doesn't Dana and the UFC brass have some issue with the way Golden Glory functions as a management team?

I mean, other than Overeem, what GG fighters has the UFC employed?

At least I think that's what's up. Manhoef is managed by Rutz, who's closely tied with GG.

Is Mike's Gym a GG outfit? I thought it was independent, like Chakuriki.
 
I'd love to see a Manhoef/Lawler rematch. The two P4P hardest hitters in MMA history going at it once again. The first fight didn't prove much.
 
My guess is he makes more money outside of the UFC than what they would be willing to pay him.

yep, even his ko loss to semmy schilt in k-1 was ref stoppage i think

Edit: just went back and watched the schilt fight. mark went down from a body shot, and tried to make the ten count. so yeah, melvins the only guy to ko hunt. very impressive

I've been wanting him to fight in the UFC for quite a while, whether or not he is predominantly a striker. He can bring some excitement to a card, whether or not he wins. People tend to forget that he laid out Hunt..

never understood it either. he is a draw, and has name recognition. ufc should sign as many guys like this as possible.
 
I just want to point out how DUMBASSES like Soul Slasher and RankingMMA have completely shut the fuck up and got the fuck out after it had to be proven AGAIN that Lawler was not looking and threw a hail mary of a punch. If he was looking he wouldnt thrown the follow up that hit the air a foot behind Melvins limp body.

Dumbasses, Soul Slasher and RankingMMA will not return to this thread haha.

Sometimes I confuse the contraction with the possessive in the case of "its" and "it's" because they are not subject to the same rules as most contractions and possessives. I believe with the possessive it is simply "its" when normally it should warrant an apostrophe. Such as, "Chael's wrestling." But hey, I'm trying. I was having a little fun though because that was pretty bad.
