Why has Melvin Manhoef never signed with the UFC ?

That is a huge if. Khalidov will be like a -1000 favorite in that fight.

he can do it, i know khalidov is a more well rounded fighter, but since melvin is one of my favorites, i have to believe in the power of his fist! lol, if he clips someone then its over

The simple answer. He probably wants more money than the UFC thinks he is worth. He is well known in MMA and overseas, but the average fan isn't going to buy a PPV b/c of him. UFC probably offered him $15k/$15k on an undercard or something and he said no thanks.

While you're probably right, if the UFC were to employ its hype machine for Manhoef, it could lure in average fans. I'm guessing you're all too familiar with how easily and well the UFC can create the appearance of a fighter through propaganda and hype to be "amazing." If it were to selectively show Manhoef's knock outs, ring entrances, body language/facial expressions, and have its personnel talk about Manhoef like he's some god, the UFC could entice more fans to watch him.

Lombard wrestles him.

Vitor submits him.

He was exciting back in the day but now he gases after 2 minutes and isn't as exposive or exciting as he used to be

And Robbie Lawler KO's him.

I completely agree. I fought MMA professionally and boxed probably a couple hundred to a thousand rounds in my life. I've trained full contact for 7 years. (boxing, muay thai, kickboxing ...)

I'm still one of the biggest Robbie Lawler appreciators out there, but it makes me insane when some fighting noobs (zuffa nuthugger), who probably sparred twenty rounds in their entire lives, claim that Robbie outstroke Manhoef. As a big Robbie fan I really have to admit that the fight looked like they didn't even belong in the same cage. Manhoef lit him up and Robbie landed on his last chance. Just 2-5 kicks more and it would have been a leg kick tko.

Good post.

But that's kind of the point. If you are SO much better at something, then something like that shouldn't happen.
That's part of the problem with leg kicks. Your opponent is still dangerous even when hurt.

It's part of the problem in striking arts, there is always going to be an X factor no matter how good a striker is.
This doesn't exist in BJJ as much, a MUCH higher level grappler will never dominate a noob only to get submitted after a few minutes.

anyone have the elegant Dutch shuffle he was doing before his entrance to the ring on the NYE card?

He doesn't want to give up on kickboxing and if he would be under UFC roster, he would not be able to compete in kickboxing at all.

And of course, wrestlers.

I would assume he's not in the UFC due to them not paying him enough and/or he wants to continue with kickboxing fights or something similar.

Just imagine Leben vs Manhoef - there's no way that would be a boring fight and someone would get knocked out stone cold. I wish he would work on the other aspects of MMA, it's kind of ridiculous that he's so bad at everything but striking.

Come on, who is talking that he doesn't have the level to UFC is crazy... Of course he isn't a top 5, but he is better than some names that are already in UFC... I am sure that he could knockout someone there, and he has a great style, always looking for the knockout... This guy is a beast, he knocked out Mark Hunt..

Who wouldn't love to see him in the UFC? I know I would.

He isn't very good that's why. He has a terrible chin, no wrestling, no submission defence. Literally all he has is a punchers chance.

He may very well be on his way soon. You never know. But to be silly, "They already got Lawler..."

Fuck that...I want him in the UFC styles make fights, with the right opponents he'll destroy them!!! He fucking ko'd Hunt for christs sake!!!! Sign me up for a Robbie Lawler rematch...or let's have Diaz go up in weight and try that pitty pat shit with him(even though I love Diaz) plenty of good fights for him in the UFC.

I'm pretty sure Robbie would be the last person wanting that rematch lol...

Lawler's legs were nanoseconds away from being severed from his body...

He wouldn't be champ or anything, but he'd be incredibly fun to watch if he was given the right match ups.

Manhoef vs Leben
Manhoef vs Stann
Manhoef vs Wand
Manhoef vs Costa

Among others.
