Why has Melvin Manhoef never signed with the UFC ?

He's not a top 10 MW but who cares? He's a VERY dangerous striker and always exciting to watch.

People who are saying that they wouldn't want the UFC to sign him, would you really not be interested in seeing Manhoef fight guys like Leben, Wandy, Stann, Philippou, Le, etc?

He wouldn't be champ or anything, but he'd be incredibly fun to watch if he was given the right match ups.

Ufc had talks with Manhoef years ago but couldn't offer him enough to offset his kickboxing pay. He actually might make more sense now since he's pretty much a mma only fighter.

Also the Ufc almost had Aoki signed way back in the day but he chose Pride's contract over his.

Lot of elitist tools in this thread. Melvin's easily good enough for a UFC contract, even if he isn't top five material. One of MMA's most brutal finishers, and there are a ton of great match-ups for him at MW.


Guarantee you'd see improvements in his game with stable UFC work, too. The journeyman's life takes a toll with respect to training and preparation.

He has zero ground game, he would get eaten up. Sure if they match him up right he'd beat the snot out of a lot of people, but in the end, he wouldn't pan out

He got dropped by Tatsuya Mizuno in Dream. I think his striking is a bit over stated these days. The worst grappler on their roster is like a Gracie compared to Manhoef. He is an easy win for any middle of the pack MW they have.

Crosley Gracie is just one of twenty-five people Melvin has beaten by way of knockout.
