Why doesn't Frank Mir get the same overrated BJ Penn love?

CC was super washed up though when they fought, and that fight sucked ass. Both guys lost in my eyes in that fight.

I know Frank had his accident, but he came back and did not look much (or at all) worse than he did pre accident after he got a few fights under his belt.
In my eyes it is obvious he was not as past it as CC or Nog when they fought. Hell, he sure had a LOT less fights under his belt.

I also don't hold Frank's recent losses against him, as he has clearly been past it for years now.
I think it is fair to critisize him for his losses in the middle of his career, but by the time he was fighting say Hunt he was washed up.
I’m saying none of those results were a result of luck.

I think the circumstances were lucky for Frank.

I wouldn't favor him against either had they fought pre-accident/during their Primes.

Because BJ Penn was considered a literal prodigy at his peak and the #1 fighter in the world. Mir was never considered more than top 5 at any point in his career.

Penn fans used to say he was the GOAT. Mir fans never said that

No one is claiming Mir to be a GOAT. Neither are remotely close.

Penn fans used to say he was the GOAT. Mir fans never said that

And you guys are making my point to a tee.

When you take away the hype, Mir and BJ are similar fighters. Yet one is deified and other is not.

The only real difference is that there was a PR campaign from the beginning incessantly extolling how "great" BJ was. Mir didn't have one. A lot of more deserving fighters didn't have one either.

Penn at his peak was obviously a much better fighter then Mir at his peak. Penn dominated and looked unstoppable at times. Mir rarely did. You will take more shit from fans when you fall further

To be fair, that looks exactly like what just happened to BJ

I'm just glad Frank isn't going out on a loss to Ayala by tapping to strikes in the clinch

Frank mir broke nogs shoulder right

1 of fedors best win

Lol
Frank mirs not even top 5 best hw of all time

Thats how overated fedor was

Pretty sure cain jds stipe dc and alot more would pulverize him
Thats how delusional they are
Living in their fantasy world lmfao kids grow up

You weren't around for Penn, obviously.

Go be an MMA noob somewhere else.

Terrible comparison. Penn was actually one of the best in the world at BJJ. Mir was big, relatively athletic and willing to jump onto submissions violently. That's all. He was as likely to get beat up on the ground as he was to submit someone. Probably the most overrated ground fighter of all time.
