Why doesn't Frank Mir get the same overrated BJ Penn love?

Delusional.

Mir has never had consistency in his career.

He got lucky with Nog. You know it. Everyone knows it.

If Nog beats Mir Fedor comes to the UFC....

Instead Mir does TWICE what Fedor could never do, STOP NOG

Mir is not a piece of trash like BJ ...weekly neighborhood fights and arrests....

Wasnt Blow_Job also accused of domestic violence? Hi neck is swollen for sucking all the Hawaiian d***$ after getting drunk..

Frank isn’t Constantly in some kinda shenanigans outside of the cage like BJ is might be a reason he isn’t so memey like BJ
The BJ love is just sarcasm with all those motivated jokes n whatknot... people know darn well he was overrated

Bj had a long streak of wins before it all fell apart. He was generally consistently excellent esp at 155.

Frank mir would get knocked out if you sneezed on him,and he was several times very lucky not to get cut.

All before he got old.

While I'm sure some are fans, I'm willing to bet that many BJ fans think Frank Mir is overrated. Or worse.

But what they don't realize is how similar these two are.

Both are 37.

Both made their UFC and MMA debut in 2001.

Both won their first UFC title in 2004. They both won these titles in their 9th ever fight.

As all BJ nuthuggers will tell you. BJ BEAT MATT HUGHES! Well Frank beat a then undefeated 16-0 Tim Sylvia.

Both were stripped of their titles.

Both have fought a who's who of MMA history.

Both have shown up out-of-shape/unmotivated for fights.

Both have similar average records: 16-10-2 and 18-11.

Both started training at Jackson/Wink late in their careers.

Both got busted by USADA.

So why is Frank Mir not talked of as a MMA deity? Oh wait, he did not fight Machida at heavyweight! Silly me! That must be it!

For you BJ fans who don't think Frank is as great as BJ, tell us why? The same way you guys don't think Frank is all that great is the same way we reality based MMA fans view BJ.
Mirs legacy is probably better

If Nog beats Mir Fedor comes to the UFC....

Instead Mir does TWICE what Fedor could never do, STOP NOG

Fedor knocked Mir out with ease.

Did you cry when it happened?

Also lol @ you being dumb enough to think lil Frankie was even a consideration when it came to Fedor/UFC dialogue (cough, pay).

Em. Frank Mir never spent a single day of his life ranked number 1 at any weight class. BJ Penn was ranked number 1 in 2 different weight classes. If you can't see the difference between BJ Penn and what he did, and Frank Mir then that's on you. Literally every single guy to ever get into a cage or ring considers BJ one of the best ever. Almost none would hold Frank Mir anywhere near that.

I'm sure the posters who sneer at B J Penn are probably too young to have seen him fight when he was at his peak. It's the same with Carlos Condit. Agreed, both fighters should have retired before now and for those of us who remember just how great they were, it's sad that they're still at it.

But the glib sneering is unnecessary and just demonstrates how little about history of the sport some people know.

Let’s do some MMA math hah

Mir smoked Sylvia.
Sylvia smoked Ricco
Despite silly Yazula judging, Ricco dominated Nog in Nogs prime.

All the above happened in a short span of time.

Mir was one of the best, even if an accident and time has glossed all that over.

Frank Mir gets a ton of love; especially around here. His fans show no delusion about him being the best ever, but he’s got a loyal following. Just check the Franco Goat thread. It’s clear in threads like that, that he is a fan favorite, and any GOAT mention he gets is more a reference to people just appreciating him.

Frank is certainly one of, if not the best HW submission specialist ever. He had some of the fastest and most violent mma submissions you can see from a big man. So there is that too.

There was a point in time when BJ was a collossass in the sport, almost a myth.
Frank, not so much:)

BJ's actual accomplishment/ranking was significantly greater than Mir's.

Pretty straightforward.
