Why does Nintendo suck now?

Can you give us some stats on that? I could have sworn PS3 has dominated overall.

PS3 did terrible early on. As of the past couple of years they've just now caught up to 360 sales and lead slightly thanks to Japan with 70.2 million vs. 70.0 million for Microsoft.

The Wii destroyed both of them and lead with 97.18 million.

nintendo is my favorite gaming company by far and it always will be.

Nintendo has the best set of exclusives in Mario, Zelda, among others, and when it comes to those titles, they dont fuck around. Whens the last time you played a bad , or poorly made mario or zelda game.

One of their failures has been their online though, if you are someone who wants to play with friends or play cod type games, the nintendo online is very poor.

Being as they are just now getting into that, I won't blame them.

Besides, online gaming isn't everything.

It's frustrating being a Nintendo fan because it seems like they are always one step behind. It hasn't always been the case but the SNES was probably the last time they were cutting edge.

The Wii U is technically more powerful than both the 360 and PS3 but developers have already made up their mind not to program for it since their games won't appeal to the Nintendo audience. If anything, the Wii U will just get shoddy ports of 360 games that don't take advantage of the Wii U's extra power, thus making people think the system is weak and sucks.

Nintendo shot themselves in the foot in the long run by alienating developers on the N64, continuing to do so on the Gamecube and then going solely after the casual market with the Wii. Yes, they sold nearly 100 million systems but it was to people that will buy whatever the latest fad is. Those people aren't buying the Wii U and now Nintendo has lost the casual market along with the hardcore market. If they didn't have Mario and Zelda, they'd be done.

Even if they spend the entire year attempting to win back fans and developers, their system instantly becomes obsolete when the new Sony and Microsoft systems come out. Even though it's technically more powerful than the PS3 and 360, it's only marginally better. Nintendo just isn't competing in a modern world where even a non-technical person is expecting the best hardware when they buy smart phones and tablets.

There's a difference in appreciating nostalgia and being stubborn.

Graphics and online capabilities are huge in modern gaming.

If you're going to stay stuck in the past that's on you, I love the classics but at some point you gotta get on.

This is seriously the worst thread of the year.

I miss your Tony Romo Link av.

Would make more sense as a Foles av as he looks just like Link and you know it man haha.

I agree! I can't stand ghraphics whores. I still prefer all my old school games over the ones today with better graphics.

When I complain about the graphics in Windwaker, I'm not saying they are not advanced enough, I'm saying the the graphics made me feel like I was playing a game based on Teletubies.

Believe me, I'm not a graphics whore. I'm on the same page as you when it comes to that.

The cell shaded style in Windwaker was meant to evoke a cartoon like feel.

There's a reason why they don't compete with Sony and MS with super consoles, they can't!

Wrong.

Nintendo made a business decision that they werent going to lose money on their consoles like they did with n64.

How am I wrong?

That essentially means (wait for it) they can't compete with Sony and MS.

Those companies can afford to go toe to toe in a console race, Nintendo can't hence their niche.

Stop disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing.

The 64 was pretty expensive when it came out. I was surprised that it didnt do so well considering their great library and how much more reliable it was compared to the PS. I bought my 64 back in 96/97 and it still works, I went through at least 8 PS's in that same time period.

Youre right n64 got its ass kick. But they couldve risk going toe to toe with MS and Sony and end up bankrupt like the Sega dreamcast.

Instead they went with something innovative/gimmicky and kicked everyones ass. I say its a smart move on their end, took the console weakness (price) and made it into a positive.

So its not like they couldnt keep up they wanted to protect their company for long term gain.

Also I think it was this year that i read that xbox 360 is finally making profit on console, like $10 - $15 per.

So you're essentially repeating my exact sentiments when in the last post you claimed I was wrong.

Way to stick to your guns man.

They carved out a niche and in they're far from 'kicking everyones asses'.

Selling 30 more million units while making profit on each one while the rest are happy to get one sold at a loss isnt kicking ass?

What I find funny about nintendo bashers, is that that it's usually bashed by cod tards who play with 11 year olds.

A cod tard's opinions can never be taken seriously. I'd take a westboro baptist member's opinion more seriously over anyone who play's cod.

Wouldn't it be great if Nintendo actually tried to make the best Zelda possible?

Imagine a Zelda game that looked that great, and one that they really put effort into. A giant open creative world with Zelda lore would be a fun game to play.

I get that they like to make goofy games that try unique ideas, and that's all great, but they should make an up to date Zelda. It's what everybody wants.
