Why does Izzy try so hard to be an anime character?

Well of course taste is subjective to a degree, but I think I'll still get on my soapbox and vouch for it. I'm not sure I would have liked the original, filler-full cut if I wasn't like 12 or younger and it wasn't a different time 20+ years ago. I have rewatched the remastered series (Kai) a few times and even currently am watching it with my girlfriend, who has never seen it before. Imo it holds up. One great thing is that several of the scenes/cut away stills are literally painting+ quality. Almost movie like production value throughout. And at its roots it's about fighting. Many of these newer anime that purport to be "super deep" kinda miss the mark to me. A lot of them are essentially trying to do Dragon Ball again. And it's hard to discount how much influence Dragon Ball has had on basically all media/culture at this point (and especially anime)

That said of course there are other good anime/manga. DB is the goat to me still

Goat anime movie is Akira

I mostly read manga.
Does your lady like it sir?

I'll always love Ninja Scroll tbh, Akira would be second for me.

Because how else is he going to jack himself off when he gets home and rewatches his footage?

Yeah, she does! I convinced her to watch until at least the saiyan/Frieza saga, and just filled in some of the background from Dragon Ball (pre Z) myself. We're at about 50 now, which is the end of that saga, and I think she wants to see the rest now. Tbh while it loses some cohesive post-Frieza saga, it's still very good, and through Namek saga is one of the greatest stories ever told imo. It's especially impressive when the creator basically admitted to just pulling it out of a hat as he went along.

And high five, I remember Ninja Scroll, from a good ~15 years back, though I had no idea it was even held in high regard. I remember it being very good, but I feel better recommending something if I've (re)watched it recently, you know?

How worthy are Oscars if they can be bought by people like Weinstein?

LOL son shut the fuck up. There are creators of Manga and Anime that have been convicted on child porn charges - who's work were later turned into TV shows even thou they were created by child molesters and contain literal imagines of school girls being raped by aliens and shit. There was a 20ft Ad of a school girl sitting on a shitter with her panties round here ankles surrounded by woodland creatures in a city in japan. Yeah, you can shut the fuck up now.

Yeah he's insufferable with that shyt. Probably some sort of a coping mechanism

So Im gonna take a wild guess and say you and your lady are about 10-15 years younger than me...(Im 46) am I right?.
This is literally the most I have ever let someone explain to me about any anime...series or otherwise lol.

I seen Ninja Scroll the year it came out in 1993..I was 16ish years old.
It was an incredible story and ride and Jubei was probably the coolest mothafucka since James Dean lol.

I seen Akira for the first time when I was about 17-18 despite it actually being released first.
That and Ghost in the shell in 95, and then I pretty much got bored with the genre and I only caught some stuff here and there.

Im trying to think of what year I tried watching DBZ...I might've been 19-20 maybe, just felt (not as exciting possibly).. can't put a finger on it lol.

So have you ever showed your lady Ninja Scroll or Akira....Ghost in the shell sir?

idk but he has severe main character syndrome
To be fair, he was the main character for a long time. He was the defending champion. First out of his gym. He’s not anymore, but that main character syndrome got him to the highest peak of the tallest mountain.
