Why do people want stipe to fight jones?

The supposed "goat" (by default just because he broke the defence record of 2) at one point but not now because he got bodied in his last fight and got bodied by DC too before having 2 drunken brawls with him. And now he's 40. But yes, the "goat"

Can't think of any other reason. Stipe hasn't earned a TS. The fight is not nearly as good.



Pav is on a 6 fight win streak and has the longest first round KO streak in HW history.

He deserves it. He's the #1 contender.


It would be badass if Jon took the fight with Pav though and somehow conquered this beast.

I don't think there's actually a big demand for the fight. Most feel Jones wins easily at this point in Stipe's career given his age and inactivity. I also think that both guys are nearing the end of their careers, and this is a unique opportunity to match-up 2 of the all-time greats.

Stipe's career overlaps with Jones in UFC, so they are from the same era, so it's the closest we'll get to a what if fight.

Lastly, just watched Gane who was super hyped, athletic, etc.. go from future reigning champion to a complete white belt in grappling. People dismissed him as soon as Jones beat him and would do so with Pavlovich, you can't tell me Pavlovich resume would be impressive if he was taken down and finished by Jones. He literally has been dismissed because Overeem did it years ago in his twilight years.

Because it gives them the outcome they want. Pavlovich is younger, stronger, ranked higher, has serious ko power, in his prime and has a big winning streak and momentum, so the fight would be a lot harder to predict, whereas Stipe is easier to predict and isn't going to put Jon's lights out. Jon likes opponents where they can hit him and he can change it up or wrestle if he needs to, not someone bigger than him who could crumple him with 1 shot.

Stipe is old and hasnt won a fight since 2020. He hasnt fought in over 2 years in which he got knocked out.

let jones fight pavlovich next. Let stipe fight gane and winner can get a title shot.

Some think he deserves a payday after many years of service.
Many simply defend UFC decisions.
And some legit think he's the #1 contender.

Lastly, some posters are just ornery and argue because they can.

Jones almost definitely beats stipe but he probably beats pavlovich too, pavlovich hasn’t really fought any good names, just fat brawlers like Derrick and tuivasa, and then your classic heavyweight wrestler in blaydes. I see that fight either being a takedown and pavlovich is too heavy to get back up and gets tko’d or khabib is right and pav is secretly Olympic calibre wrestling in which case he stuffs the takedowns and tkos jones

I'd say Jon Jones and Stipe are in very similar situations minus one fact and that's with Stipe being knocked out twice in his past four fights. That's no good in my book. Otherwise Jon Jones has only had 2 minutes of octagon experience since 2020

Personally I was hoping Stipe would come back sooner but instead he was waiting for a title shot or Jon Jones.

Either way both guys are done. Jon Jones hasn't looked the same at light heavyweight in years and he and everybody knows it. Jon ain't sticking around at HW

Stipe's only losses in the past 5 years are to all-time great HWs, both of whom he also beat, so he is not "undeserving" (at least in my opinion) although I admit that Pavlovich could certainly be argued as more deserving.
