Why do people think Cormier has bad Cardio?.

He said had octagon shock against Mir. I dont know, maybe people think he should have finished him? I thought he looked pretty good though.

Sometimes you'll see him take a huge breath, and he also looks at the clock a lot. But I think thats more just him being loose in there.

I didn't even realize people were criticizing his cardio at HW. I thought some were expecting it to be bad after cutting to 205? That's a legit concern but we won't know till he does it.

Winning titles in both Pride and UFC with bad cardio?

Watch his fight against Maurice Smith, Maurice pretty much won by exposing and exploiting Coleman's poor cardio.

And GSP is not a wrestler. Several of the fighters you mentioned have had cardio issues in the past.

I'm baffled by it too. He has shown fine cardio thus far.

Looked slow and gassed after hugging Mir for 3 rounds. Cardio should be fine at lower weights.

Just saw it, and you're right about Coleman, different era of MMA though. GSP's whole game today is wrestling, without it he would possibly not be champ. He is known today for his wrestling more than anything.

My point was, to wrestle with succsess you must have great cardio, a striker don't, generally speaking. Great wrestlers in modern MMA, must all have great cardio to excel. But not every wrestler, why I said usually.

He didn't look that fresh at the end of the Mir fight. Of course, he was hardly done. I think it has something to do with Jones saying he had terrible cardio. Not too many HWs can got 5 rounds at a decent pace like he did against Barnett.

Actually, his game really is BJJ. Even though his wrestling is great and allows him to take pretty much anyone down, his top control is what makes him able to beat guys and that is all BJJ.

Most wrestlers in early MMA like (many of whom were better actual wrestlers then many of the current top MMA wrestlers) had cardio issues when fighting MMA. It's just a different sport.

Well, sure, but if he does not sub or KO opponents it's his wrestling that does it for him more than anything today. His cardio has excelled with it, and he use it tire out (control) opponents on top. Just look at Cain as a prime example of my point, where the cardio is an actual weapon of the wrestler.

Point made, how about mine?

Wrestler (usually) have (today speaking) good or great cardio.
After seeing Bubba Jenkins and Shawn Bunch gas to shit in Bellator recently, I'm gonna have to disagree.

tons of people on Sherdog think that you can judge conditioning and athleticism by the way the fighter looks.
