Both sides are stupid as far as I can tell. People are willing to burn the country down just to see the "other side" lose. We're all going to lose except for those in power.

If you can look at the last 4 weeks of this government and compare them to any 4 weeks of any democrat government and claim that they're both equally stupid, then I hate to break it to you, but you're stupid. There's been more monumentally asinine, embarrassing, and dangerous shit in the first month of this administration than there were in the entire 12 years of Obama and Biden.

I've seen hypotheses that more liberal preferences among people has a tendency to scale with less disease-prone areas. Obviously infected wounds smell bad, and tropical places are both easy to catch diseases in and make you sweaty. Basically, to survive in the tropics you have to be distrustful to an extent is the claim. The hypothesis basically boils down to "Norway is cold, so it's easy to be further left".

I don't put stock into that claim, and think it might just be a chain of coincidences. But the claim in that article and similar basically try to observe that effect.
