Why did Hitler not massacre the 400 thousand allied soldiers stuck at Dunkirk?

No idea and no can ever give you a solid answer but at that time, afaik, he still respected the empire so i can only allude to the idea that it wasnt in his intereast to continue fighting the english as he had offered peace terms only a few months before, maybe he really was hopeful not to have to continue the war on the allied front.

the idea that he didn't do it because the two people's were cousins sounds nice and all but we're all pretty much cousins and that has never stopped us from demonizing and killing each other.

that's what I've heard too, and also, there was one of our military leaders, may have been Patton who said that WW1 would end up in another one with how things were handled. From what I hear, the humiliation and degradation as well as the impossiblity of making them pay money they didn't have created the situation.

I'm no military leader or genius but even I can see that a population as small as Germany and Japan cannot rule an entire globe. Hitler's plan was world domination with that tiny population, it's retarded.

I never saw the film Dunkirk by Nolan, but i was watching my favorite documentary on WWII and it made me wonder why Hitler held back in mowing these soldiers down. They were sitting ducks.

I believe it's one of his biggest mistakes in the war among other things he did wrong.

Why do you think he spared them?

Nazis rarely spared anyone especially the Soviets. Millions were killed as they rampaged their way across the eastern front. They would come across a town, and if they were in a hurry they would just flatten it with their tanks with the people still in it, otherwise they would take their time and do things like rape and butcher the women and girls in the street with their bayonets and dump everyone in a mass grave. No surprise when the Soviets paid it back and then some.

The Holocaust is taught to us in school as a top down phenomenon but the evidence points more towards the functionalist view that it was ordered by SS camp wardens at particular sites, all of which were in Poland. All the horror stories come from Auschwitz as the female warden who ran it was especially brutal.
