We know why corporations lean right. Profit motive. So what is it about being educated/running an academic institution that makes people lean left?

That doesn't really say much. People who are down-trodden and not very smart will most likely choose a side out of necessity. If I'm mentally retarded, and can't get a job because of it, I'd probably go with the people who are at least feigning an interest in helping me.

Personally I find the far right to be much more insufferable lately. For the plain and simple fact that they stand for nothing anymore. It's just a fact that this Republican Party is unrecognizable from that of even the Bush whitehouse and seemingly have lost touch with reality. Conservatives will defend literally anything if it helps their "team". In Alabama they were willing to look past the fact that he was a certified nutcase and voted for him just because their team needs his vote...basically throwing their morals in the garbage because he had a R next to him...pathetic

Democrats had Frankin, whom was a much less severe issue and despite the possible senate seat ramifications, they made him step down. They at least stood for something decent.

I look at this president and how far he and places like braitbart have dragged this nation into the shit, and its fucking disgraceful...Trump could come out tomorrow and say forced naked child labor is part of infrastructure reform and 36% of the country would be out in force to defend it. Republicans put party before country now...and it's sad because if they would just stop, and pay attention to what's happening, they would realize that the Republicans haven't represented them in a long time

Democrats are not perfect, but they are not promoting bigotry and sexism as a national platform either.

And let's say one of these kids does land their dream job as an independant marine biologist or climatologist. Who is providing the grants that put food on their table?

LOL "Disrupt" That's an interesting take on it. The LA riots alone led to over 60 deaths, 4,000 injuries and a billion dollars in damage. The thing about large scale protests that turn violent such as the more recent Ferguson or Baltimore riots is that people lose there lives as a direct result of these large scale protests simply because of the resources that are diverted to them. While these fat-mouthing protesters act like children, the police, fire department, paramedics etc have to babysit. Now grandpa doesn't make it in time to the hospital after having a heart attack and johnny gang banger and his buddies go on a free for all rampage on the town. You're trying to compare born again buttholes protesting abortions to wide scale violent protests that happen in our major cities about once a month now. Even the protests that don't turn violent take their toll simply due to prevalence. You have know idea how many times shithead protesters have made me late for something in just the last year in here in Seattle. If you go down town It seems like it's every fucking weekend these days.


Also, Name a "right wing" group that has organized and carried out the execution of an abortion doctor or bombing of a clinic. Name a single incident that was carried out by more than one crazy individual. In fact, give us a death toll spanning other the last 50 years.

Lastly, while I will say that far more lone wolfs tend to be right wing nuts if you consider anarchy a right wing ideology (which is debatable), they are rarely organized like the left. This was my original point, and why I see the left as being more dangerous overall. I personally feel like left wing protesters turning Seattle upside-down in a violent protest is far more likely to affect me than some wackjob like the Unabomber.
