Who in the heck is watching the UFC?????

Those are always fudged in order to attract more investors.
They have been a public company for a long time now bro, the period of doing anything for the purpose of attracting investors is long gone. Their accountability now is to deliver profit to the owners aka shareholders and accurately report their financials to the government. Fudging shit now will land them in federal, pound me in the ass prison.

i stopped following and watching all the behind the scenes, the press conferences, even the preliminary cards and some cards as a whole since McGregor.
i used to write on some specialized sites before 2015, they still send me money once a year, but i've became a casual and i'm fine with it.

I'm in the same boat, used to stay up until 6.00am to watch the fights, most definitely won't be doing that again. Boxing is destroying the UFC at the moment.

Lmfao ..

What?

I can not relate.... Just watch some other promotions and regional shit and ull quickly see why the UFC is what it is...

Dude. I trained. Had a few shitty fights and had three team-mates in UFC.
I'm mid 40's now and the UFC is trash.
I barely get excited and I love combat sports.

It was great from 2002ish for a good 10+ years but the entire foundation has shifted.
I had a similar experience. Used to get together with bros and buy each PPV that we would watch at someones' place. Those days are gone for me...seems like some folks are still doing this? Sometimes we would go to bars to watch MMA, but it doesn't seem like that is on offer anymore. Fair quesrion TS...

Got in around 09, have espnplus, and still pretty much watch every fn. If I'm not feeling the card I'll just try to avoid my phone and watch what i missed in the am with a cup coffee. I'm past the point of losing sleep for UFC sort of...

Ppvs I split between two or three buddies when it's a good one. We got 314 because it was pretty stacked top to bottom and would have ordered 311 if Arman didn't pull out. Never in my life would I consider buying 312, 313, and now 315 and 316. Unless somebody has a favorite fighter somewhere on the main card, I'm pretty firm on skipping trash ppvs. Also helps I've seen enough to UFC to identify trap ppvs that look okay and end up sucking (313).

Like anything else people need to learn to pick their spots. When I skip a ppv, I do a little digging the next day and try to avoid spoilers. In two weeks I'll watch the main again in full rez. It's all good , trust me, this is just entertainment and doesn't require a deep emotional response. I play Magic the Gathering so I'm used to the consumer vs evil empire duality. It's very similar but even worse over there. The price for cardboard rectangles keeps going up, yet printers exist... and you could print near exact copies for cents on the dollar. Same deal with MTG being once a small biz now a owned by a public company that needs to appease shareholders. Really steep paywalls. Angry fans. Same shit different toilet.

Not sure. I watched the Volk PPV and that was the first event I watched in about a year.

The Corporate Defense Force wishes to remind us that all companies are on the up-and-up and fraud never happens. Thank you.

I'm 40 and been watching since 95 or so.

My buddies don't watch anymore. Their pussy, weak bitch teenage and early 20's kids don't watch it

The old farts aren't watching. It's never on at bars / restaurants anymore, at least from what I can tell.

I definitely don't watch anymore - DFW has ruined something that he built that used to be awesome. It's akin to something like a Stretch Armstrong where the original one was incredible but after it got mass produced it became this bumbling pile to rubber goo that no one wanted to buy anymore.

Just who exactly is watching UFC? Is it truly just a product that earns revenue now for simply being on television spamming ads for whatever stupid bullshit?? I honestly have no clue who watches

I'm not saying no one watches, obviously someone is, I just don't know who. It's like the sport has vanished but at the same time more popular than ever? Our local watering hole doesn't even get posters for big events anymore.

The modern UFC can suck on my balls. Thank you
Why the fuck are you posting on a UFC forum then? Don't you have better things to do?

Dana White followed the Vince McMahon arc. Attitude era wrestling was awesome and then they went PG looking for money with wider audience. Exactly what the UFC did with the Reebok and Venom deals, the WME purchase, and ESPN. Now its this watered down sanitized mass appeal corporate money maker. Everything and everyone is the same now and the product is absolute garbage for the most part.

I'd say it's less PG now to be honest. Guys used to get cut for making rape van jokes on twitter, now you don't get cut for being an actual rapist.

It felt like it was becoming more mainstream a few years back since it rebounded so quickly from the pandemic. All that momentum is long gone now though
When they were able to bring it back so fast during Covid and everyone was just craving something they could watch and enjoy that was fresh, and tv shows/movies were at a standstill I think they brought in a bunch of popularity for sure. Then they started price hiking rapidly and it just got really expensive to maintain.

I still think if they had a $20 a month subscription service they’d be very successful

I used to watch all the fight nights, top to bottom but the last 6 months or so I’ll just watch a fight or two. Even the PPV’s are so watered down I only feel the need to watch 3 or 4 fights on the main card.

Thing is... I used to actually know fighters on the prelims and thus have a reason to give a shit.

Lately I scan the card on Thursday or Friday to figure out what time to even consider turning it on. And it is getting later and later the more watered down the cards get with regional nobodies

When ufc had 100 guys, I knew everyone on every card.

Then they added more divisions.... cool, I knew the WEC guys already.

Then WMMA. Gotta let the dogs out and smoke a bowl at some point.

Now there's like 700 fighters on the roster.

Who the fuck are these fucking guys and why should I give any fucks?

I'll turn it on when the ranked guys are up.
Which is usually around 10pm for me (EST),

They monopolized the sport so hard that they now don’t really have a significant feeder org.

So now if they want to bring up talent they have to do it. And TUF/DWCS isn’t really enough any more when you have so many weight classes and also women’s divisions.

When it was a 5 weight class sport, it was much easier to develop talent.

I watch all of them unfortunately, however, the quality right now is undeniably the worst it has ever been.

The roster is way too big & they have too many events. Apex needs to go as well, only use that shit for Contender Series or TUF.

I think they do like 40 something events a year? I'd like them to drop it to like 30, do 1 PPV a month & 1-2 Fight Nights.

Shit sucks. Also think the pay is another huge problem, there's not really a good incentive for people to get into MMA these days, it's a terrible career choice.

Another thing is that they're such a monopoly that they don't have any competition organization wise & they are still racking in the dough, so there is no incentive for the company to do better. They seriously don't have to give a fuck.

We need to do a poll to see how many sherdoggers actually buy PPVs and pay for the fight pass thing.
And how many people buying UFC products still walking around wearing their full-kit walker attire made by Reebok?

(Yes we remember, and if you ordered one, I hope your family forgets your birthday and your spouse has a second family because you are duuuuuum)

Honestly, Dana and the UFC are to blame for killing all that momentum.

The flood of mediocre Apex cards, undeserved title shots, and watered down PPVs have driven away the casual fans they gained during the pandemic. And even diehards like me are struggling to stay interested.

As someone who’s followed this sport for years, I can’t sit through an entire Fight Night when 80% of the card feels like filler. These days, I cherry-pick a few fights to watch if any. Some weeks I skip the card entirely because it's just not worth the time. It’s the only way I can keep from burning out on the sport I was once passionate about.

I had three buddies over for Volk vs Lopes card. They are former Hardcore's turned casuals but in all honesty they were here for Paddy.
