Genuinely what is stopping some of you from stop watching the sport?

I skip a lot of it nowadays. Probably 80% or so when you take into account all the meaningless undercard fights and shitty Apex cards. I will never stop watching completely though. Theres always gonna be something compelling about seeing two high level fighters competing, its a different level to watching a bunch of guys running around with a ball or whatever.

I think a lot of people on this forum would benefit from stopping watching this sport altogether. Burnout happens, and this is not a great era of UFC. If you don’t feel like watching any of the cards, don’t know who’s who anymore, and just wait for the results to get posted, you’re burnt out. Take a break or stop watching because unfortunately the product is not getting any better.
its literally the same shit it's always been give me a break

I still hate it when there's a weekend without a UFC card, but I'll still look around for some other kind of combat sport. I know this is about the UFC in general, but when you have things like this, PFL, One, Rizin, other random orgs, boxing, kickboxing, grappling, there's plenty of different things to watch to keep it fresh and not boring.

A reliable stream since fawanews got taken down

Lol

Na, seriously I can find them still, but fawanews was dynamite for years. So reliable

And then poof, it's gone

Oh, I missed one of the stops in your thread title

You'll be raked over the coals with a combination of boot licker-ism and criticisms largely based on misrepresentation of your actual point.

But you'll still be right. Kudos 🤜🤛
"People don't agree with me, only possible reason is bootlicker"

Until you stop assigning random motives for anyone else's words and actions you will never get very far in life

UFC/MMA used to be a niche sport but not anymore.

but not as big as soccer but the only sport who is neck and neck with soccer today which is something dana said like 12-15 years ago and he was laughed at back then but look today.

MMA was mainstream only in the US 10 years ago but today it is mainstream in Asia, Africa and Europe including Oceania and parts of South America
MMA is not even close to being neck and neck with soccer, and MMA is not mainstream anywhere. It is still a niche sport that very few watch, and even fewer really know something about. To put it in perspective since you mention soccer -The biggest UFC PPV sold 2.4 million, and that was Khabib vs McGregor. The highest soccer PPV sold 300 million. And the soccer world championships are watched by litterally 3+ billion people.

Hell, table tennis is a bigger sport than MMA - more than 1 billion people watch the table tennis "world cup".

I've been watching since early 2000's, seriously following since about 2006 iirc.
These last few years I'm watching like 3 whole events each year. The rest I watch small clips of the finishing sequence, if anything.
Shit got stale and WMMA between interesting fights doesn't help either

I still love the fights and am fascinated by the plight of the average prelim fighters battling for their dreams. I know a lot of people hate the unranked fighters or think they’re just filler whatever for me those regular people spelling blood for their dreams is a show for me. Like I can’t tell you how pumped I was for the Chinese car to seal those guys from the Shanghai Academy fight or how fascinating I am about following the latest class of contender series guys as I get to the UFC. I don’t know I guess I’m just really drawn to underdog stories. Also… I don’t hate women either. I’m really intrigued by who well if at all defeat, the dominant women’s champions. It’s a story line that has really captivated me.

I check all the UFC fight cards before I decide if it's gonna be worth my time to watch. But my wife will be walking funny for a while after a Fight Circus card is announced.

I don't watch it the same anymore cards got awful

I remember in the early-mid 00's when we used to get maybe 12-14 numbered events a year, all had title fights, and this stuff started where they were quadrupling total events, having more Fight Nights, etc etc.

Some were like "YAY MMA all the time. "

Others accurately predicted the over dilution driven lack of talent and ultimately entire cards that are meh.

Funny thing is there are prob still some of both opinions, but I think there's too much to maintain interest, talent levels, event relevance, etc.

I still watch a good amount and enjoy it.

Heres the secret imo. You cant watch every card every prelim every fight anymore. Theres just too many cards you will burn out. Its ok to look at a card and realize " i dont care about any of these fights" and do something else.

If someone is worth watching the ufc will put them on a card to get your attention soon enough.

Its kind of like being an nfl fan. You cant watch every game.

I’m still watching. But some things have hurt my level of enjoyment the past few years: constant rematches, needless interim titles, lack of meritocracy in matchmaking and title shots, the influx of influencer culture and politics.
This, 100%

For me, I'm adding in midgetmma and wmma. Also watered down cards. Less of a special feel, more commercialized.

I remember going to the local Blockbuster to rent fights.

I feel sorry for people who didnt have this experience. You'd get legit excited if they had what you were looking for and the store had that popcorn/candy smell. Now everything is done at home think and click with zero work for it. Kills the fun part.

Internet MMA talk has jaded many of you. The fights are now secondary to what you're going to discuss all week. Everyday is spent waiting for news, updates, and announcements. Fights are exciting but you're more intrested on what they talk and post about for weeks leading up to the event. Your MMA "fix" doesn't come from the events, it comes from the drama.

That happened to me for a long time with professional wrestling. Couldn't just watch the show, needed all the gossip and dirtsheets. You stop enjoying the moments and start disecting the wrestlers and the show. Instead of a big return being exciting, you've spent the entire morning waiting for airport photos.

If you find you're one of the serial complainers, you'll have a better time if you stop over-saturating yourself on content.
