Genuinely what is stopping some of you from stop watching the sport?

Thats what I miss so much about the golden era of MMA, there were so many great MMA orgs, especially between 2002 - 2015, we had UFC, Pride, WEC, Strikeforce (all of them were excellent and so much fun), even Cage Rage was quite fun to watch back then, I didn't like Elite XC that much personally but it wasn't bad.

Remember the days when we would have a huge UFC PPV and huge Pride PPV on the weekend, UFC would be saturday and Pride sunday, it was amazing! the hype and buzz and excitement was incredible. It was a magical time, MMA was booming at that time, couldn't get enough of it.
If I could go back to the 90s and start all over, I would. We may never be spoiled in such a way as we were between the beginning and the death of Strikeforce. Even Shark Fights had wild cards with name talent.

I think a lot of people on this forum would benefit from stopping watching this sport all together, burn out happens and this is not a great era of UFC if you don’t feel like watching any of the cards don’t know who’s who’s anymore and just wait for the results to get posted your burnt out, take a break or stop watching because unfortunately the product is not getting any better.
I barely watch the reebok era of UFC. I'm more into BKFC now and the knockoffs of BKFC.

The UFC and Dana need to realize they aren't the NFL and can't have an event every week. The talent pool isn't deep enough. once a month at best would be ideal, maybe with a regular TV broadcast (non-PPV) once a quarter.
Its funny, you would need to pay me to actually watch the NBA and I can barley watch the NFL. But I agree the numbers for the NFL is a different universe when compared to the UFC.

I think if you have a problem with people voicing their disdain for modern MMA, then it is you who has the problem. It is you who cannot handle opinions, that in your mindset, shouldn't matter. you can take the same energy of telling people to fuck off, and apply it to yourself when hearing people complain. as hardcores we have every right to complain, this is a MMA messageboard FFS. if you don't like it, for sure don't click on the thread, read every comment, and get upset. take your own advice, your own logic and shove it.

modern MMA is complete garbage, modern UFC's direction is a joke. genuinely what is stopping you from ignoring comments?

Martial arts is life.

Casuals such as yourself may need to start watching the Kardashians or something.

Don't watch if you don't want to. The people who want to watch will watch. Making a moronic thread to complain doesn't make things better.
Yeah but it seems like we get 18 threads a week about the good ole days and how I don’t even know half the fighters on this card

Who here doesnt watch? Id rather train than watch and yeah i think its kinda funny some of these younger guys at gym have no idea who current past fighters are in MMA, MT and Boxing -but I d rather see guys training then watching if given a choice. UFC doesnt have same pull it once did once it went asymmetrical paying Conor a Kings ransom while the majority of actually great fighters go unheard of and kept poor. Find im more likely to go throw on an old Pride Don Frye/Shamrock fight than a current one but Ill always watch.

I agree the product isn't getting any better, but that's also why most people don't know most of the fighters, so that seems like a strange thing to criticize people for.

I don't see how ANYONE can objectively say that the sport is in a good era. Look at the top 10 in every division and count the number of fighters on huge losing streaks... this would NEVER happen a decade ago but the roster is so thin that even a list of the "elite" is padded out.

It's no surprise what happened... fighter pay was never that great but when the UFC decided to prevent fighters from obtaining their own sponsors? Pffft it was all downhill from there.

What incentive is there to be a professional fighter when you have to pay all of your own expenses, train in a variety of different sports just to be competitive at 1, take a lot of physical damage with no income if you don't compete, and even the very elite are making a fraction of what other professional athletes make? lol

At least wannabe football players go to college and get free education. Hell, even they're getting paid now before going "pro". Even if their dream doesn't happen, they are getting something for their efforts and have some sort of fallback plan whereas in MMA, the only thing you can do with the skills you've developed is become a coach and teach other wannabe fighters the same "useless" skills which basically means the sport is a pyramid scheme lol.

It was a fad. The company is still making money off of the gullible marks who sign up to get their faces smashed in and the gullible marks who will tune in to watch despite the actual quality of the "competition" being embarrassingly low but it will not last long term. Even veterans like Minotauro and Wanderlei aren't even 50 yet so we haven't even begun to see the CTE effects that will no doubt lead to the banning of the sport eventually. It ws a fun ride but for many who were here in the early days, it has long since ended IMHO

The reason the top ten are on losing streaks is because they're too slow at dropping people. Woodley for example was still ranked top 10 when he probably wasn't even top 30 in the UFC at the time.

I kinda like it, it also changed my life and produced my 5 year old, completely honest. Without mma my life would be extremely different.
