Who had the worst end to a great career?

Fedor got sent to the shadow realm by matt mitrione.

Matt.

Mitrione.
So did Derrick Lewis, Gabriel Gonzaga, and current KSW HW Champ Phil de Fries. Except Fedor’s loss was fluky and happened when he was 40.

Fedor deserves a mention. I remember reading an article in, I believe fighters only magazine, quoting one of Fedor's coaches saying that Fedor's speed was notacibly declining. A couple months later, he gets submitted by Werdum and gets ko'd by Bigfoot half a year after that, and was never the same.
Fedor certainly fell quite a ways from his peak in terms of ability. The last run of Fedor’s career after un-retiring saw him go 6-3 and earn a TS twice. His last fight saw him fighting for a major MMA title on CBS. He was a shell of his old self, but far from completely falling off a cliff like BJ, Anderson, or Chuck.

Big Foot too.

Frank Mir a bit too including that zombie finish in boxing.

I'm going with Frankie Edgar.

He only lost to elite contenders, but the ways he lost were so fucking violent.... For me that was the worst.

BJ and Chuck have more to be ashamed of... But Frankie's demise was the worst.

Baro for honorable mention.

Renan Barao definetly. 30 winning streak ends with 2w 8l in last 10 fights.

BJ Penn teaming up with Mike Dolce and standing on his tip toes against Frankie Edgar was enough to break my heart. Absolutely depressing to see.

Lot of sad stories. One thing that strikes me is Weidman. I really think that the Rockhold loss messed with him. The dude was doing so well and the fight was competitive until he tried the dumb wheel kick. Then it was a ten minute beat down.

Maybe Cain. There was nobody more terrifying. The dude was too disciplined for his body's own good. He trained himself into dust every time, and the human body was not meant for it. But I think there was a stretch of like six months where Cain would have beaten anybody, even Fedor. To go from that to what we saw at his fight with Ngannou is just sad.

I feel like Anderson was way too much of a goat and made enough money to not end like it did. Was awful watching him pop, then keep losing.

Choices not made by t.s/op.
Frankie
Chris suffered CTE to 3 killers and it was a wrap

Frank Mir a bit too including that zombie finish in boxing.
Came here to mention Mir. He went from being a standout HW to a fat punching bag that got winded climbing into the cage.

But not even close to the worst end or greatest career.

Penn called it with getting KO’d in a bar parking lot then doing a media tour to run for an office which he knew nothing about.

BJ Penn made me sad. You gotta know when to hang 'em up. He basically hung on until he couldn't even qualify for the prelims. Dude was even getting slept by drunkards at the bar.

I can't think of anyone else who went out on such a sad(and prolonged) note.

Anderson Silva just got beat up by a YouTuber
That's my take too, either Anderson Silva, or the corpse of BJ Penn, with both losing to either a YouTuber(granted he atleast takes boxing seriously), or KO'd by some literal random nobody in the streets.

<{you!}>
