Who had the worst end to a great career?

Matt Hughes.

Loved that dude, still do, but it’s sad seeing him now.

edit- clarify after train incident.

Both are coming off wins. In Pettis' case, against one of the greatest boxers of all time.

I'd say they're both doing fine.

Lmao 54 year old Roy Jones Jr. Yikes. At least Pettis for paid but his fall from grace was a rough one.

Garbrandt too, barely skirting by unranked guys and trying to keep his job in the UFC rhese days.

Mma Fighters almost never go out on top. Khabib and gsp are a rare case.

so who had a great career but then just went downhill bad? My top 2 picks are. Bj and chuck.

BJ Penn -was regarded as a lw goat at the time. A p4p savage prodigy. after beating diego and defended his lw belt. He went 1-9-1 in a span of 9 years. Getting ko’d 2 times and subbed once. Lost a lot of decisions in those 9 losses. Also getting ko’d in street fights. Yikes.

chuck liddell - the iceman, ko’d people and looked like a legit badass. After losing his belt go rampage by KO, he went 1-6 in a span of 9 years getting knocked out bad in 5 of the 6 losses including 4 kos in a row before he retired.

Has anyone had a worst end to a great career than these 2?
Fedor got sent to the shadow realm by matt mitrione.

Matt.

Mitrione.

BJ easily. At least chuck was getting lamped by good fighters. BJ was getting beat up by the likes of Siver and Guida by the end of his career.

Bj and Hendricks come to mind
At least Chuck was usually winning his fights until he got Koed lol

That hurts to look at. Marlon was a monster and was doing well in that Cejudo fight. He was still showing flashes of brilliance during his losses too but damn it seems like once the body is done it's done.
It's his karma for being gifted the Aldo fight. He knows it is true. I like Marlin he seems like a good dude and a great fighter.

Conor Mcgregor - won 2 belts. Made tonnes of $$$.
But ended with bad losses, broke his leg and became Twitter champion
His career was manufactured by the UFC with carefully chosen fighters to go with Conor's strengths. Til he met Diaz of course and the glass man got Stockton slapped and panic wrestled.

Fedor was my favourite fighter for years but his decline was fucking brutal. He went from people thinking he'd never lose to getting smoked by fighters like Mitrione.

Gotta be Anderson unfortunately. He went from the greatest Middleweight of all time and considered one of the GOATS (still is) to

- Gets KO'ed By Weidman
- Has one of the worst injuries in MMA history in the rematch
- Wins Nate Diaz fight after and then pops for steroids and it gets turned into a NC
- Has 1 win in his next 6 fights and most think it was a robbery
- Gets knocked down and loses a boxing fight to Jake Paul

Fedor did have a string of bad losses but ultimately rebounded and had a good last half of his career going 10-3 after. BJ is noteworthy for having a great run and then a terrible last half the career but I think Anderson takes it just because of how great he once was.
