Opinion Who are US allies?

We don't need to carry the rest of the world if they want the same things as us then we can be partners in see that happens. I have no trouble being partners just not the world's "sugar daddy ".
There are no partners. If you believe that, you are very wrong about how global power works. You can want to be partners all damn day but someone else wants to be the leader. And that person, or country, will take over when you step down.

This is the history of the world. One person sits at the top. It's you or it's someone else. We have to accept that basic piece of reality.

So Trump should declare he is the president of the "free world " and all must do as he orders. Well then he gets to set the price and how it will be run.

LOL

As if, indeed.
  • According to the province, Ontario was the top export destination for 17 US states.
  • Every day, over $320 million in goods flow across the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor and Detroit.
  • Since CUSMA came into effect in 2020, trade in North America has increased by 47%(Opens in a new window).
Exactly...without the US, these countries couldn't peddle their goods.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make with this comment. The President of the United States has declared themselves and this country as leaders of the free world going back to the Cold War.

It's the very principle that our modern way of life is built on. It's why we sit at the head of almost every global organization and largely get our way on international agreements. We run the UN, NATO. We broker international trade agreements, even when we're not part of those agreements...because even deals we're not part of have to be brokered with our support in mine. It's why we get to sanction countries even when everyone else says we're wrong.

We've been leading the world for almost 100 years at this point. So, yes, Trump gets to order the rest of world around...while he's POTUS. The question is what are the implications of his orders on the next President's ability to do the same? Are we preserving power or ceding it.

History is filled with examples of powerful nations, empire, city-states, where failure to understand this led to the end of their hegemony.

Under this guy?

North Korea
Russia
Hungary
El Salvador
China

You know, the Countries with really...iron-fisted leadership.

We are not and we're never meant and never should be considered to be "king" of the world with that responsibility or duty. We are partners and among the leaders. In this we must pull our weight as others should.

That's the position that the US has deliberately put itself in since probably world war 2. Doesn't matter which party is in power.

Who is there left on the world stage that you can rely on?

All gloves are off, and US oligarchy obviously only cares about making its pockets deeper.
If it means bleeding your allies dry, so be it according to them + fuck the environent I guess (" drill baby drill" despite US being the largest producer&exporter of oil on the planet already..)

US isnt competetive anymore with its goods\industry (tnx to all the billionaires moving production from US to China 9ver the past 2 decades lmao) - SpaceX and nvidia (and couple of other companies) are whats still keeping you relevant.

Since US isnt a reliable partner anymore, because Trump wants to tariff everyone (dumbass doesnt even know what tariffs are) + wants to take EU land away (Greenland), its time for MEGA.
Make Europe Great Again - cut ties with US, strenghten its own armies and establish China as our main trading partner while working with south & central america, canada, and Africa (everyone who US pissed off lately).

China is technologicaly more advanced (or is soon to be anyway) + China only threatens it's neighbors and doesn't topple governments across the world like US agencies do.
Dudes are playing the long game and US sanctions are speeding things up.
China is America's greatest ally. It's literally the reason Americans can buy clothes and appliances for under 500 dollars, in fact, it's the reason the "dollar" is still a thing. China finances you and saved your ass in the 2008 financial crisis.

Everyone else is a freeloader who takes more than they give back.

Just ask Elon how good his life would be without Gyna.

Then I have no problem if he forces them to do their share while we cut back.

What makes communism worse than late stage capitalism that US is in the middle of?
I don’t know, where would you rather live? In the capitalism the US is in the middle of, or perhaps Cuba, Venezuela, or North Korea?

Lol@naming Countries with US blockades, and global economic trade sanctions on them imposed by the US, who dont like their leadership.

If you're going to make the case against Communism, at least act like you know which Countries are failing "because Communism" who arent having gross interventionism imposed on them.

Get sick in the US and go bankrupt cause you have to pay thru your nose for medical bills (yey "free market").
Or work 2 jobs just to pay rent.
Agreed, US is barely better than Cuba or Venezuela.

North Korea isnt communist - its totalitarianism.
