That's what the Brits thought...And if US was in Asia it would be a chinese colony
That's what the Brits thought...And if US was in Asia it would be a chinese colony
Maybe the EU should just do the smart thing and not take them in the first place.Maybe the us should stop fucking shit up around the world.
Eu takes the hit on the refugees pouring into to Europe.
Will the us start taking its share of refugees?
Peruse we are feared due to our economic and miltary power. Why do you think the US has the political influence that it does?
Yeah, that’s why they’re hell holes. Communism totally works, it just hasn’t been done properly yet, right?Lol@naming Countries with US blockades, and global economic trade sanctions on them imposed by the US, who dont like their leadership.
If you're going to make the case against Communism, at least act like you know which Countries are failing "because Communism" who arent having gross interventionism imposed on them.
Yet absolutely no one is moving from the US to live in those countries, while everyone in those countries wants to come to the US.Get sick in the US and go bankrupt cause you have to pay thru your nose for medical bills (yey "free market").
Or work 2 jobs just to pay rent.
Agreed, US is barely better than Cuba or Venezuela.
North Korea isnt communist - its totalitarianism.
Let me ask a much simpler question -- do you think the US should be the dominant power in the world, geopolitically and economically? Then I have no problem if he forces them to do their share while we cut back.
1) the only ones moving to US from these countries are dirt poor families and criminals with nothing to loseYet absolutely no one is moving from the US to live in those countries, while everyone in those countries wants to come to the US.

1. The thing is, just about everyone in those countries is dirt poor and has nothing to lose, I've spent 3 years of my life in Cuba and I can tell you that it's not just the criminals trying to get out, if anything the guys who are selling cigars on the black market or doing shady dealings like re-selling goods from Russia and Mexico at quadruple the price, are the only ones making any kind of money. The educated and law abiding Cubans are the worst off as they have no hope for a better future.1) the only ones moving to US from these countries are dirt poor families and criminals with nothing to lose
for them, things cant get worse so what is there to lose? at least they are guaranteed a meal every day even tho they will work their asses off on some field picking cabbage all day
people with some brains arent going to want to move to a country that is xenophobic and threatens to kick you out depending on Trumps mood of the day
2) american dream wont last for long - US has moved on from "country of the people" to country of the rich (if you're rich you live in a gated community and you have get out of jail free card) - you're becoming less and less desirable with each day
I guess thats what right wingers want - but that also means living and working conditions have to improve immensely for people living in US or the whole thing falls apart.
You would say that from the outside looking in, lol. In my opinion, as an American, I'd rather it's us than anyone else.Absolutely not. You guys are unqualified to be a world leader. Morally, culturally, economically, and in most other ways, you set a very poor example for the rest of the world.
Ya that's pretty "simple" that's for sure.Let me ask a much simpler question -- do you think the US should be the dominant power in the world, geopolitically and economically?
We have people pouring into this country from all over the world though. I'm not sure you have much of a gripe here.
HadThe Us Ranks 27th in social mobility.2. American dream, or capitalism, is the only system that actually improves the lives of it's citizens. If you can't stand the fact that in such a system some people are gonna be way richer than you, then you're driven by nothing but envy. I've lived on 3 continents, and places like US/Canada is the only place that actually gives you any chance to climb the ladder and make something out of nothing.
By what metric? The Us Ranks 27th in social mobility.
The American dream is doing better in 26 other countries

Xenophobic? Have you ever been to any other country? How do you suppose the average Chinese or Russian looks at a person of a different race in their country? How do you suppose you'd fare in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia if you wanted Christian of Jewish rights there? If anything US is one of the least xenophobic countries, only a clueless and uneducated fool who's never been anywhere else would think otherwise.

A 2007 account, and you're thinking like a teenager, instead of learning to put things in perspective and being grateful. Absolute disgrace.
Yes...if I'm the tiger. No...if I'm the zebra.Ya that's pretty "simple" that's for sure.
Let me ask you a simple question then, do you think a tiger should be the dominant predator in it's habitat?
The funny thing about power, when the most powerful guy is taken down, another powerful guy just takes his place. So yeah, I guess every country should try to be as powerful as they possibly can, and improve the lives of their own citizens as much as they possibly can. That's really all a government's job should be, to improve the lives of it's own citizens, just like my job is to provide the best life possible for my own kids. Now would I like that all the kids in the world have great lives? Without a doubt.... BUT not at the expense of my own kids.
So now you've jumped from Communist countries to Chile and Brazil. There are over 600 million people living in central and south america (areas where most immigrants come to US from) - if everyone there wanted to get to US you'd be done for - but no. you dont see brasilian or Chilean middle class risking their lives to come to US
Trumps whole campaign was based on immigration fear mongering and he won on that platform - sounds pretty xenophobic to me (remember the whole JD Vance "they're eating the dogs in our neighborhoods and raping our women"? fukcin lmao)..
Btw why mention russia as xenophobic considering its a huge country with bunch of different ethnicities and religions (last time I checked, practicing Islam or Christianity isnt forbidden in Russia)?
And Ive been to China twice - I am not Chinese yet I was treated with nothing but respect (and there are shitload of travel blogs by foreigners in China who were treated the same).
Also you make it out to be as if US was some diversity champion, conveniently ignoring most of europe, australia and south american nations.
you can also climb the ladder in most western countries and be well off without having to work 60+ hour weeks lmao.

The world has always been, and always will be a fucked up place with wars and exploitation etc.Maybe the us should stop fucking shit up around the world.
Well I don't disagree with any of that, I think you can be the most powerful guy without taking advantage of the weak.Yes...if I'm the tiger. No...if I'm the zebra.
But your main paragraph is exactly the point I was making previously. Right now, we're the most powerful guy and other countries defer to us because of it. But part of being the most powerful guy is that it comes with more responsibilities. If we don't want the responsibilities, that's fine, but it also means we don't get to be the most powerful guy either.
As you note, someone will take our place. And right now, the most likely successor is China. Me, personally, I don't want China becoming the most powerful nation on the planet. They'll use their power to force concessions out of us if we're geopolitically isolated. And if we cede our power over smaller countries by alienating them then eventually it becomes a big enough bloc to harm us.
We're not at that point. But we know China has a plan for getting us there. We have to stay ahead of that.
To the extent that dissolving the Baath party led to ISIS but that area was full of extremists, sectarian strife, and dictators. It's debatable, but like I said you do have a point, I just wouldn't put all the blame on us for the clusterfuck that area has historically been.Iraq, Afghanistan etc. I would say a pretty large part
