Who am I?

Based purely on resume, he's quite underrated, IMO. He beat Mayorga fresh off his wins over Forrest. Beat Zab when he was relevant, almost upset Taylor going up in weight. He had some OK wins.

It's the Nelly ring entrances, the dancing... drove me crazy. Leon would have vetoed that!

Who am I?

I was a frequent fighter on Tuesday Night Fights, I had a lot of highlight reel KOs.

Only one guy defeated me, Reggie Johnson.

I was seriously on "fire". Then I got HIV.

lamar Parks. tragic story

I was born in London & won my first 24 fights by KO. Then I was stopped on cuts by a future world champion. I went 8-4 in my next dozen fights with all four losses also coming to former world champions. The last of which was a rematch against the first fighter to beat me. After which, I finished my career on an 11-5 run. Despite my 40 KO victories & an exciting style I never got the opportunity to fight for a world title.
WHO AM I?
my brain is smoking and getting nowhere.

OK, let's narrow it down a bit. This fighter was active in the last thirty years & fought in one of the weight classes above middleweight.
Farq I was way off the only name that was popping up for me was winestone but he also wasn’t born in London
<41>

OK, gentlemen here's another hint: this fighter fought his career elsewhere from the land of his birth & his nickname was a kind of naval ship.

God damn- Alex Stewart. The destroyer. Ugh I feel dumb.

Spot on, bro. Kudos. I think that even with the hints that was a pretty tough one.
I should have a pic with Alex among the rest of mine with heavyweight contenders & champions but I was so busy with my own activities that day & night that I put off getting my photo taken with him. So, I figured that I'd catch up to him in the locker room after his fight with Tyson. Well, come that time Stewart was so dejected after getting knocked out by Mike in the opening round that I just didn't have the heart to bother him for a photo. Besides, I was busy running around trying to collect my pay from that afternoon's exhibition with Mark Breland, the monies that I had coming to me for the canceled O'Neal fight & my corner work that night. So, I never saw Stewart again after that night.

I'm an American. I had a TKO/KO ratio of 80% in my first 25 fights, and one of those stoppages was a world title win. I went 31-0 before suffering my first defeat. I was a road warrior and competed on every continent aside from Australia. I once said about myself that if it wasn't for boxing, I probably would have been a house painter my whole life.

Eh, Muhammad Ali kind of fits this.

Damn, I was hoping this would take longer.

Pretty much the epitome of the answer hiding in plain sight indeed. I read the Ali biography by Jonathan Eig not too long ago. The road warrior and the early KO ratio did ring a bell.

The odd thing about King is that he treats the low echelon people that work for him fairly well. As I said, previously, he always took fairly good care of me. But, then again, I was just a prelim fighter & sparring partner so a few hundred bucks here & there was nothing for him. He liked to pay me in cash right out of his "pimp roll". It was the main event, successful fighters whom he owed large sums of money too that he played games with. Like his astronomical, infamous "towel fees" that he took out of fighter's purses. I know that he practically raped some fighters with those including Tim Witherspoon. They amounted to thousands & thousands of dollars & really put a dent in what he got paid in the end.

smart enough to know the little guy could be the next money maker. no need to rip off a hundred, make the investment hope to rip of the million!

Nope, but somebody forever linked to Larry
Damn, I thought for sure it was Holmes. But, it sounds like maybe it was someone who wasn't promoted by King & said it as an outside observer. So, I want to say Leonard but he's not linked forever with Holmes so I'll go with his fellow '76 Olympian, Michael Spinks. It seems out of character for him but...
