Who’s the 2nd greatest MW ever?

Henderson is totally over rated sorry but he did nothing in his ufc run but ko Bisping..Franklin beat Henderson imo also close fight but it should of went to rich

For me, it's Franklin. His work ethic, personality and fighting style were great for the sport.

Mouse or weidman. Moussasi for the longevity of excellence and record or Weidman for caliber of wins and important title defenses. Chris beat Andy twice which is better than anyone else's resume by miles. Gtfo with franklin. He beat Victor and machida as well. Luke has no shot because he didn't defend once and he doesn't have the wins that Chris has. If I had to choose, I would pick moose because of his overall record and consistency.

.....and I really feel bad for Luke cause if not for his porous defense, he could've ended up right up there ....I'm talking 1 or 2......but ifs and chins count so there goes that. Chris on list , I just cant ascertain his body of work because of the fortunate timing of him being " the one" at the right time and place( even his first defense which was just unfortunate for Silva and he was an enormous favorite over a past it and clean vitor).Plus - SFORCE middles hadnt got here yet.Dont get me wrong, Chris champion material ( was)and owns a spot on list.... I just dont know where.

* when I reference vitor, Chris destroyed him so that counts in his favor .This a very hard subjective discussion. Any version of past it vitor beats ping. That sentence , alone, disqualifies Bisping from this topic ( also what 48 year old hendo did to him - laughable)

Mousasi- and the fact that he was championed at 205 for a chunk of his career actually strengthens his stance .This cat is still only 34 .....still going strong and carries little to 0 mma mileage over 17 years. His prime years are winding down( most likely) and we might never see anything like this again. 47-7 , 8-0( KB) over every top promotion- has never lost 2 in a row since age 17. [12-3, 9-3 zuffa, UFC ]

MMAs paradox.

Yup

Is this about the greatest MWs ever in MMA of just in UFC? Some here talk as if Rockhold wasn't already a legitimate MW champion when he arrived in UFC. 7-0 in Strikeforce.

Im a big Mousasi fan but we all saw Jacare, Machida, Philipou and Jardine fighting both Gegard and Luke around the same time and what happened in those fights. Big difference, actually.

Weidman and him have same number of ranked wins and have been at the top around the same time. If they didn't fight each other it would be more of an open discussion. But they did, both in their prime, and there is no controversy about the outcome.

Henderson is #2 in my book anyways. Romero close behind

Maybe Carlos Newton is he ever moved up, totally ducked Anderson.

Hendo's second run in the UFC started when he was age 36...

He beat Palhares, Franklin and Bisping

Then he left, went to Strikeforce and knocked out Babalu, Cavalcante and Fedor

Then he came back for the third time to the UFC at age 40... where he didn't do so well, 4 wins (5 if you count the robbery against Bisping in their second fight).

How are other 40 year old MW fighters doing?

Anderson Silva 1-6-1 in his last 8 (And his single victory was a robbery)

Yoel Romero, 1-4 in his last 5

Jacare 2-4 in his last 6

Show me another MW that has fought the guys he fought win or lose.

Hendo fought more top 10 and top 5 guys including some of pride's best at their prime juiciest win or lose than any other fighter in MMA history and at 3 different weight classes.

1 Silva
2 Mousasi
3 Rockhold
4 Hendo

Belfort if we ignore TRT (Hendo and Randy were on it too but they tend to get a pass) He murdered everyone aside from Silva in his 2nd UFC run. KO'd Lindland in Affliction before he came back

3rd is prob Moose. Arguments for Rockhold or Romero too. Hendos best work was at 205
When was Randy on trt?

Say what now? Wins at lhw and hw have absolutely zero to do with being the mw goat.

when it’s a 185er beating heavyweights I don’t see why not.

If it’s what you accomplished just in the division maybe different but Hendo is a middleweight. Wins against heavyweights not counting is crazy. Do we discount fights at 185 where the guy doesn’t make weight my for example?

If the fight cannot be for the MW championship, of course it doesn't count towards your MW accomplishments... It's not at MW lol

Agree to disagree. I think fights won outside your weight class should count for more.

I know most people probably won't agree with this, but thinking back, I have a hard time buying Franklin as the #2 guy because he was just so damn big. He was able to make the weight, but the guy was a fuckin light heavy amongst actual middleweights. Now there are a lot of guys who can comfortably move up from 185 to 205, but I think he had a size advantage over almost everyone when he was champ and a bit afterwards.
I also don't believe he'd beat Hendo with both firing on all cylinders.

I think Nick Diaz deserves that title
He did defeat The Legend, who had recently, or relatively recently defeated Tha Best Eva
<mma4>

I thought he fought his toughest at 185. He seemed to have more steam on his punches there.

Again it 100% counts as a great win. Just not a great win at mw. This is like Penn fans saying he's the lw goat because he beat Hughes at 170.

Massive accomplishment but it has nothing to do with the lw division.
