Was it right for the lady to call the police in this situation?

Ok. So we cant call her racist.

But she damn sure does have a false sense of entitlement which stems from somewhere.

This bitch thought she could stalk and harass some kids and a black dude just cause it looked odd?
I have an interracial marriage and family, the shit dont look odd to me.

Bitch needs to be locked up plain and simple.

But that didn't happen either.
Hm. Wonder why.

My friend's wife is a Daycare provider. She's great with the kids. She's a medium skinned black woman and often takes her Daycare kids with her shopping. It's funny to see her pushing a stroller with a blonde haired, blue eyed white boy in it and other white kids in tow. When people ask about the kids she replies "These are my babies." Everyone has left her alone so far.
Just wanted to point out, she is not a black person. Black people dont accept us as being black and we don't face the same issues. So please just call us ambiguous.

On the other hand, it's fucked up that the thing that drove this woman to call the cops is that the kids were white and adult was black. As if black people, who have a long history of domestics work, in this country can't be babysitting white kids as a normal part of a program. It's also really sexist because if it was a black woman, she probably wouldn't have looked into it.
It's only sexist. Him being black and the kids being was just evidence that they definitely aren't his kids. I don't think anybody is looking at a man with kids in his car thinking "oh, he must be their babysitter". If it was a white guy with kids of another race, pedophile would be the first thought.

Sad that this is how society is now. Making assumptions without facts.

Kind of like what happened with Brett Kavanaugh.

Odds are high that brett and his frat bros raped that woman and many others.

This lady is going to be shocked if she's ever in a city with Uber. The police department is going to get flooded with calls about white people being kidnapped.

Well, well. Look at who’s all of a sudden advocates for the presumption of innocence.

Wypipo love calling the cops for everything, I bet it's because the whales were black.

That poor guy.. this was a life time experience and she ruined it.

It's both. If it was a white guy with white kids, she probably would have ignored it. If it was a black woman with white kids, she probably would have ignored it. If it was a black guy with black kids, same. It's combination of race and gender that made her poke her nose in, not just one or the other.

My adopted daughter is Chinese and I am white. Should I be cool with nosy ladies calling the cops whenever we go get dinner?

Yes

I'm calling the cops on you right now

If you can call anybody racist, it's a person who stalks down and calls the cops on a black man just because he's with white kids. It's fucking okay to call that person racist.

You know when you see a black man walking towards you, you cross the street to the other side of the sidewalk.

This is a national news story?
Anything to stoke the perception that we live in a macro- version of Mississippi circa the early half of the last century.
Looks like the rubes are still eating it up, though.

sure seems to happen alot.

Shame on white woman #6729 for calling the cops for frivolous reasons. It's 2018. This shit shouldn't raise alarms just because the caregiver isn't the same race as the children.

I'm not blaming the cops about this one at all. They kinda have to take all calls seriously and investigate. The cop used some clear critical thinking and kept this from escalating into a major issue, which in this day and age should be celebrated. According to the kids' mom, the officer was apologetic on the phone and that was that.

I remember reading something on reddit where a forum full of cops were complaining about constantly getting calls to investigate black people who were doing normal, non-criminal, day-to-day shit, including just doing their jobs. The overall sentiment was that they're embarrassed and annoyed at these kinds of calls because it makes them look like racist assholes when really it's on the caller.

Thank you.

Sure, that's the perception you're being sold. And it is working like a charm.
Like I said.
Out of the countless human interactions that occur daily, a two or three time occurrence is in as many months is "a lot"? And national news?
You're being played.

I was gonna say the woman should have spoken to him first, but she did and he refused to answer, so... If you're gonna be weird about it, be contrarian for the sake of it and refuse to talk to people, I'm fine with the cops being called on you. Being black just emphasizes that he's not the kids' parent, it's not really about the skin colour. Only reason a white man wouldn't get approached is because people would mistakenly assume he's the father. Same thing if as a black man he were babysitting two black kids - nobody would ask anything.
He didn't refuse to answer - he told her he was baby sitting and also the kids (from the point of the video starting at least) were in no way distressed and happily sucking on some soda. She then demanded to speak to the kids. At that point i'm telling the woman to GGF. Part of his job is protecting them from crazy people like that.

odd that many black people i know say this kind of thing happens alot. it seems to be the perception of many people that it happens to them.

"A WHITE woman reportedly called the cops on a black man she saw babysitting two white children at a Walmart store in Georgia.

Corey Lewis, who runs a youth-mentoring program in Atlanta, used Facebook Live to film his interaction with a local police officer responding to the woman’s call about the girl and boy he was babysitting on Sunday.

Mr Lewis explained to the officer that he is the kids’ babysitter — that he’d taken them to eat dinner at the Subway in Walmart and then stopped to get some gas — which is when the woman, who had been following them, approached.

The woman asked Mr Lewis if she could speak to the girl, to see if she knew who he was — and he refused, Mr Lewis told the police officer. That’s when she called the cops and then followed Mr Lewis all the way home, he said.

“All because I got two kids in the back seat who do not look like me, this lady took it upon herself to say that she’s going to take my plate down and call the police,” Mr Lewis said in another Facebook video. “It’s crazy … It’s 2018 and this is what I’ve got to deal with.”

The children, a 10-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy, confirmed to the officer that Mr Lewis was their after-school teacher and babysitter.

Their parents, David Parker and Dana Mango, were shocked when they were called by the police to confirm the story, telling local outlet CBS46 that they believe Mr Lewis was stalked and harassed for “babysitting while black”.

“I said, ‘Are you saying that because there’s an African-American male driving my two white kids, that he was stopped and pulled over and questioned?’ and he said, ‘I’m sorry, ma’am, that’s exactly what I’m saying,’” the mother told the station."

i am not sure if i am more shocked that the lady felt she had to call the cops because she saw a black man with two white kids, or if i am more shocked that the cops acted upon her call and called the kids parents to confirm that this was the case. i am aware in the states there was a massive raid recently where 123 kids were found in trafficking rings (https://www.news.com.au/world/north...p/news-story/1597d523f189d050ae389b94055d2318) and that scenarios with kids, their safety is number 1. but i also find it hard to process that this was the ladies first thoughts that came to mind. she should also offer the man an apology, and to the kids parents too.

what you guys think?

I suppose it's racist for the lady to think the guy kidnapped the kids so she was wrong to ask to speak to the girl.

OTOH, it seems that she was worried about child safety. So horrible job/good job?

I'd like to give the parents of those kids some kudos for having a black sitter. Those kids will likely grow up not seeing race at all and will be better for it.

Did you not grow up around any blacks?
