White: Velasquez vs Dos Santos III could be a while away

Did you say Hunt? He is not even top ten.

How about JDS fights Ray Mercer as well?

JDS would take Hunt down and submit him or win by decision. I like seeing Hunt fight but he is really hyped up by you clowns like crazy on here.

Yeah I'm having trouble understanding the Hunt hype

I understand. Generally I like to see JDS vs Hunt. But on the scale of JDS making a comeback for top contention, a fight against Hunt simply doesn't make any sense.

You're right that it doesn't move him up the rankings. However, a somewhat "easy" fight might make sense after that loss. I think Hunt would be a good opponent for a number of reasons: can JDS sub Hunt, can he strike with Hunt, what do his take downs look like? I think Mike Russow would be another good next fight for JDS.

Then James Toney would be a good opponent too going by that logic. Hunt got easily taken down and submitted by McCorkle not too long ago.

JDS was taking down Carwin at will even slamming him several times.

At least Russow is top ten.

Cain caught JDS with a huge early shot, too, you know, and it colored the rest of the fight.

The difference is that JDS finished Cain instead of letting it go to a decision.

I have no idea how some people think that makes Cain's victory any more convincing.

You are delusional. Again, NOTHING about an early KO from a heavyweight is more impressive or telling of who the superior fighter is than a bell to bell domination.

It should. Cain had to fight to get another shot. So should JDS. Not to mention JDS will need more time to formulate a strategy.

For those thinking JDS is foolish for wanting a rematch right away, he's saying that for his image as a fighter.

I can't really make my point any simpler.

Ask a friend to explain it to you.

Fuck that. Cain only had to win 1 fight before facing JDS in a convincing finish. JDS deserves to win 1 fight and have a rubber rematch.
If Cain doesn't smash Bigfoot he probably doesn't get the "quick" rematch. JDS isn't fighting until July or August in my opinion. That leaves a remagch after one fight at least a year away.

I didn't think Cain should have gotten a title shot after 1 fight, and I don't think JDS should either. JDS should have to beat 2 top 10 guys again before getting a shot. I really think it will benefit JDS to fight someone with Cain's style to better adjust his style to fight against that style.

Who fights like Cain aside from Cormier?

Ehh I don't think so. Would if JDS wins the 3rd fight? 4th fight with any fighters is kind of lame. They need to build the tension so its a crazy collision course everyone wants to see desperately.

While it was the 2 best HW's in MMA they kind of killed the excitement by having it so soon. Shouldn't make that mistake again.

I agree. They have hype for one more fight. They'd be wise to let the hype build.

I'm glad to see most people agree not to make an instant rubber match. Jds needs more time to prep for the third fight and plus, lets see if someone else can dethrone one of the top two heavies in the world.

Much Too early I reckon for JDS to take on Cain again, he needs to take another 2-3 guys on and within that time retrain take down defense, wrestling and footwork and striking again or figure out exactly wtf went wrong during the Cain fight only he would really know.

I say let JDS take on the likes of overeem if circumstances allows it, Werdum, bigfoot, hunt and josh barnat. They will all improve JDS, I think it would be great if he can get in there with a guy like Josh barnett hell he should be training with him daily if he wants to beat Cain one day !

Lets see how Cain and the Reem turns out, might see belts changing again who knows!

He probably does not even want a rematch after that ass kicking

I'm lost here?

If JDS wins the 3rd fight, then JDS wins the 3rd fight. That's 2 of 3. Just as if Cain wins the 3rd.

I agreed with that part, hence why I said I agree lol. All I was implying was, they've already rushed it too much. You can't drag it out too long now.

I mean these guys are very good, young fighters and if theres a 3rd fight and it's close we'd have to see a 4th fight-which starts to get repetitive.
While JDS may "deserve" a quick rematch, I don't think that benefits the fans or JDS.

JDS and Cain are far and away the best at HW so you don't want to blow it on a quick rematch.

JDS wants an immediate Rematch. These guys are Pro-Fighters and after getting beat like that he wants to do Cain worse. Just like when Cain was 64 sec KO'd by JDS.

if Big Nog beats Werdum I cant see it being more than one fight away

Carwin is very, very slow and JDS does not have a good battle tested ground game with Carwin almost subbing JDS and besides if JDS fought Hunt it would give him a chance to display the "world class" boxing he supposedly has.

Lol. CLING to that moment. Cain still mopped the floor with him the other night. :(?

XD
