Week 5 - Intensity - Low Stress

6/29/08 - Sunday - Lower 1

Back Squat (with belt):

455x1 @10 (+10 PR)

Today sucked balls. So, I called it a day there rather than hurt myself pushing more. Definitely a bit overtrained.

If your feeling like shit and still hit a PR, things are not all that bad.

Nice work.

Poor Donut.

I planted shrubs and trimmed the bushes today, so no recovery work at the gym.

K.I.S.S. :

Couple of thoughts I pondered yesterday and today at work:

a) I am heading back home this weekend, leaving Thursday night. This pretty much kills the end of my lifting week.
b) I decided earlier today, after scribbling over 3 pieces of notebook paper, that I have fallen into the trap of over complicating things. I can't help it, I am an engineer. Instead of brewing up some big cycle for my meet, I am just going to go back to Sheiko.
c) I need more practice with the competition lifts, and in % range that allows good form. I'm not a geared or advanced lifter and I don't need to be doing 8000 fucking things to make progress just to satisfy my lifting ADD.
d) While I think there is potential in RTS for me to make faster gains short term assuming things go optimally, long term strength gains are a marathon, not a sprint. I need to calm the fuck down. I'm not wise enough to program my own training on a large enough scale to achieve this same effect.

So, I am going to take the rest of this week off, and starting next week kick back into Sheiko 37. This will give me enough time to run 4 prep cycles and a 4 week competition cycle. That is all.

Hey man, garden work can be pretty freaking tiring, especially on the lower back.

Jumping back on Sheiko, huh? Your log was getting to be like fucking homework, so making it easier could do well for you.

I still consider doing Sheiko, but I think it may be too much volume with strongman training as well. I may just use the bench scheme each day, and follow my normal routine besides that. How do you think that could work?
