Looks like I have low grade hip adductor strain. I'm not supposed to squat or deadlift for 2 weeks. Rack pulls should be OK. So time to do lots of pressing.
I could complain more, but I had an incident in the gym today that really smacked me in the face. Without giving too much personal information about him, there was a member when my gym was in it's old location who I was casual acquaintances with. He's an older guy, short and strong. I hadn't seen him since the gym moved locations and figured he had went elsewhere as some had because people weren't sure what was going to happen and were afraid to renew memberships.
Well he was in there today, I could immediately tell something was very wrong with him. After speaking to him, long story short, he was a former Navy SEAL (I knew none of this before today, he never spoke about work) who now works for the government in another capacity. He was sent to Afghanistan and was hit by an IED. He lost almost all of his hearing, vision in one eye, and has very severe nerve damage in the left side of his body. The arm and leg on that side are nearly useless and will never recover fully. On top that, they also found he had lung cancer during the surgeries and had to undergo intense chemotherapy.
Despite all that, when he found out today that his white cell count was finally high enough that he could finally be around people, he left the hospital and the first thing he did was force a friend to drive him to the gym today so he could lift. And he was extremely happy to be there.
