So we're going back to September of 1992.

For me It's either Robin Williams or Anthony Bourdain.

Dale Earnhardt, for me. He was my favorite race care driver as a kid. I cried for three days when he died. That's more than I've cried for deaths in the family.

Dale Earnhardt was the kind of man I wanted to be when I grew up.

Dude your post beat mine by a nano second. Interesting how you cried for "three" days since that was his car number.

Voted David Bowie, but the actual answer would be Rik Mayall, that one really hit hard. George Michael would be second, Bowie third. Was going to say "Freddie Mercury obviously", but that's been 31 years, well, almost anyway.

And Queen Elizabeth II passing hit me hard for some reason. Not a big fan of monarchies, but she was such a constant, always there, that it feels weird that she's not around anymore.

Wow. For some reason I never even thought about it like that. I only saw the coincidences in racing, like Harvick taking over Dale's ride and getting his first race win in race number 3 (at Atlanta).

You don't have to know people personally to be affected by their deaths.
Yeah. That's such a weird thing to say. Clearly a lack of empathy, or just some zoomer thinking he's edgy.

Kobe.
If Dale Earnhardt had been on the list I would have chosen him since I was a big NASCAR fan back then. The whole NASCAR series went downhill fast after he died.
NASCAR died with Earnhardt. It's not even the same sport anymore. I only pay attention to it because Harvick is still in the game, and to me he is the true successor to Earnhardt, even if he isn't with Childress anymore.

It's a shit sport and when Harvick is done I won't bother watching or even following the sport anymore. I'll just watch old races on YouTube or something.

If I don't know them, why would I care?

I find people that are affected by the death of someone that they've even met before to be kind of weird personally...

I guess you weren't saddened or affected by the 9/11 tragedy? I didn't know anyone from 9/11, but I was deeply affected by that.
