Which food with no consequence??!!

IF I don’t eat a ton of it, which I want to, and would, if my answer came true…

Definitely not a horrible combo in the grand scheme of things. I just want to be a glutton on it and not have to worry. Love semi-sweet chocolate and certain bitter nuts. Or with raspberry. Just a sucker for those combos.

I feel like an 85% bar is rich enough to where I only need to eat about 2/3 of a serving and I'm good. If it's a regular chocolate bar with a good amount of sugar, I can finish the whole thing and still want more.

Goes well with salted almonds as well. Those salted chocolate bars are really good too but they're high in sugar and will lead us to diabetes land.

I never buy chips, soda, or beer during routine trips to the market because I won't stop until I finish them all. So one of those 3.

I only eat once a day, so i eat whatever i am craving. For example, Tonight i am eating a hoagie with roast beef, ham, turkey, bacon, american cheese. Buffalo wings. And mac and cheese topped with chili.
Update: I got full on a few wings, I ate half the hoagie, and couldnt even eat the chili mac.

I have bad inflammation when I have a lot of sugar. It is bad to the point that whenever I have a birthday cake slice, the next day my knees are inflamed - like I physically feel it. Halloween leftover chocolates did a number on me lol

And for those of you asking, I am “fit” but not like a typical sherdogger loll.. I run quite a bit and am at the gym and eat well. The stupid sugar is my enemy now and my body is telling me to stop and I am listening about 6 days a week to it.

The rice thing is almost certainly incorrect. Asians walk a lot and have smaller portions to begin with. When Americans eat rice, it's a mound of it on a plate. Asians also tend to store their fat viscerally, when they gain weight their aesthetics suffer less but they're at higher risk of disease from a high BMI. Like the rates of diabetes in China are out of control, even though almost none of them are fat fat (but certainly skinny fat.)

No brother, it is facts:

The Chinese diet has traditionally been based on rice, and it is thought that the Chinese digestive system has evolved over time to handle this staple food. Here's a more detailed look at how the Chinese digestive system may have evolved to handle rice:

  1. Starch digestion: Rice is a rich source of starch, which is a complex carbohydrate that is difficult to digest. The Chinese digestive system has evolved to handle the large amounts of starch found in rice by producing more amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch into simple sugars. This allows the Chinese to extract more energy from rice than other populations.
  2. Smaller intestine: The Chinese population has been found to have a smaller small intestine compared to other populations. This may be an adaptation to eating a diet high in starchy foods like rice. A smaller small intestine allows for more efficient absorption of nutrients from the rice.
  3. Microbiome: The gut microbiome is the collection of microbes that live in the digestive tract. The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in breaking down food and extracting nutrients. Studies have found that the Chinese gut microbiome is diverse and contains a higher number of bacteria that are able to break down complex carbohydrates like those found in rice.
  4. Lactase persistence: Lactase is an enzyme that helps to break down lactose, a sugar found in milk. Many adults lose the ability to produce lactase as they age, which leads to lactose intolerance. However, the Chinese population has been found to have a higher rate of lactase persistence, meaning they are able to continue to produce lactase and digest lactose as adults. This may be an adaptation to a diet high in fermented foods, such as fermented rice products, which contain lactose.

Food has serious consequences on our health and we don’t even know it.

I had a buddy during our time at Basic Training (Army) and he would live off cookies, coffee and cigarettes. It got to the point where he was like becoming known for that, and he would brag about it. While we would rush through the food line to get our eggs for breakfast or actual meals for lunch and dinner, he would skip past us and grab two cookies and coffee. His “thing” started drawing attention to the instructors and the other platoons but he didn’t care, as he would always finish with the top group in any of the long runs they had us do. We thought this guy was a rare genetic type of person, but he was skinny and petite. But nonetheless we were impressed.

On one of our final physical tests, there was something called “fireman carry” where you had to carry someone around your size over your shoulder and walk about 50-100yards, can’t remember the distance, and he volunteered to go first.. we had just walked 13kms with this huge massive pack on our back and carrying all our weapons.. he wasn’t even out of breathe.. he picked up his partner and began walking, then he just collapsed. His hip broke.

That was scary, but then when he got taken to hospital and got blood work and all that his health was horrible. I went to visit him at the hospital and I brought cookies and beer, but he wasn’t down with it anymore. But i understood.

You have to be careful with what you eat, man

The staple food in China depends on the region? I believe the north is into wheat while the south eats rice. It's not an absolute but it's the reason someone gave me as to why the folks in the north seem to be larger in stature vs the southerners.

I don't think Asia is free of consequences from excess carb consumption. I think they have a different lifestyle too. Some of them don't eat a big meal then watch TV. Americans just don't walk enough. Our portions are really big too and we don't really eat a balanced diet. We will spend an hour in the gym to do cardio but we wouldn't take the shopping cart back to the front of the store.

We all know that some foods are so bad for you, whether it’s chips, sugar, food colouring, fries, etc. Rice in certain countries can also lead to obesity. But in China, and other oriental ppl country, they have the genetic gene where they can eat bowls and bowls of rice and not get obese. But in western countries people assume rice is healthy but they can’t stop gaining weight from it.

So for all you health and nutrition junkies, what is the one food you would pick if you could eat it without having any bad health effects from??

For me personally, I’m torn between chips and ice cream. Man, I can eat that stuff all day everyday if there was nothing wrong with it. And man, I don’t mean eat it in moderation. I mean I could just live off of it if it was healthy for me and not bad.
Dude. Do you even Asian??? We don't eat "bowls and bowls of rice." We eat a bowl of rice because most of us are poor as fuck. We eat it with a bit of meat and vegetables. Or we eat a noodle soup with broth and the same meat and veg. We don't eat a ton of sugar or dessert. A lot of the time our dessert is just fruit. Ever tried an Asian cake? It's WAY less sweet than a Western counterpart.

I'll admit that our genetics are good, but countries like China are starting to get a lot more obesity with the introduction of Western food and fast food franchises from the US. Diabetes is rising much faster than before. I'm Vietnamese and we have one of the lowest levels of obesity. McDonald's tried to taint our country, but the people rejected that shit and they pulled out. They liked their traditional diet over the crap that McDs was peddling.

I'm just saying. Do some research before spreading such ignorance.

Honestly, rice. I eat whatever I want in moderation and I’m happy that way. But this week I’ve been enjoying a cup of jasmine rice with a heaping helping of veggies. The carbs from the rice alone has been throwing me out of wack. Not gaining weight, but my progress isn’t happening either. I love rice. Rice with veggies is a top fav food but it does not agree with my goals.

I did not mean it at all in a negative way. I did not say bowls and bowls like in one sitting, it was more like they eat it consistently. In your neighbor India they eat naan/roti consistently. It’s not to say that’s all they eat.

I go to mandarin a lot and I know the variety of food there is, not ignorance my friend, but maybe mis-educated.

Ever since I learned how to make fried rice (very spicy version) I want it alot too.. I find reasons to make fried rice whenever we have left over rice

Ever tryregular rice and mix it with some konjac rice? You wouldn't notice much difference in the taste. Go slow with the konjac or your stomach is going to hate you. I also do cauliflower rice with rice but it's just vegetables and rice.

We need a volume eating thread here.

I've given this a lot of thought previously. I always thought it would be pizza or ice cream, but it's breakfast cereal. So many different types of sugary goodness. Haven't had any in years and would eat it every day if i could.
