Where's Ryan Hall?

He had quite a few injuries, and I think he's just leaned into pure grappling.

he got ronda’d. the loss was so humiliating and the backlash so harsh that he decided to quit.
I mean something like that.

“It’s a bit of a saga,” Hall told MMA Junkie. “I spent about 10 years not being injured, then I just got a couple of bad luck (injuries), like getting fallen on a couple of times. (I) tore a hip flexor really badly prior to my first fight in 2021, and had a really, really bad tear in the bottom of my foot. So a lot of things started to add up. I broke my hand in that first fight in 2021, had that fight in December, and then went into the next year.

“I was going to do ADCC, going to do some competitions, and I had actually just agreed to a fight in August of 2022, but unfortunately got fallen on, tore my ACL, tore my meniscus and it’s been 16 surgeries since. But we’re on the back end of it, and I just had one on Tuesday, but it’s fortunately going in the right direction. I’m looking forward to being back healthy, feeling better than I have in a very, very long time, and looking forward to competing again soon.”

I’m fairly sure Ryan was just competing in mma to help promote his bjj school. Also, martial arts clubs were shut down during covid, so he likely came back for two fights during this time to ensure he had a paycheque coming in. Now that Covid’s over and he can promote his school as being run by a former ufc fighter, he’s 39 years old and setup fairly well.

oh yeah totally. it was so humiliating and the backlash so harsh he decided to quit... after winning another fight 5 months after the humiliating loss.

you people live in a fucking fantasy world or some shit, seriously.

Thankfully not fighting in the UFC at the moment.

Fucking hate his style. Throwing a kick, usually a spinning wheel kick up high , then just rolling all the time for leg locks. Sometimes throws a punch but very very rarely and never more then one at a time. It works on some guys but never will with higher level fighters who actually game plan.

I'm surprised he got as far as he did. Hate his smug post fight shrug too.
Was very satisfying when Topuria put him away, rewatched it a little while ago .
Commentary loves to gush over him too especially Rogan.

Ryan Hall always struck me as someone who doesn't enjoy MMA and did it more as a job, kinda like Gregor Gillespie. Those guys don't last, MMA has to be your lifestyle, you can't be punching a timecard.
I always thought he was a guy who didn't really respect MMA and thought BJJ was superior and wanted to prove that. His lack of striking and wrestling advancement I use as proof of that.

In the hall... :p
