Where does Aspinall Rank amongst the PRIDE HW?

Asp[ would be weakest fighter here

Cro Cop did have good defence but he was known to be chinny if I dont misremember.

lol, feel free to think that everyone can survive a perfect timed hook from Randleman or an high kick from an HW.

Kevin randleman was 5'10 and not a boxer. He's not touching Aspinall and His takedown Will Go straight into a sub. Randleman is just a better version of Woodley, and had a style that worked for its time.

Interesting reading this thread now vs before Gane. Before people were having Tom stuff takedowns, also having him takedown others. His stats were 100% takedown defense and offense, so it's sort of difficult to judge based off that alone, I get it.

To me I think it'll be easier to rank him once we see more of his level of BJJ, level of wrestling, level of cardio. Hell we don't even know his chin. The roster of HWs now, it's clear nobody has tested him besides Gane and he screwed up with that damn eye poke.

I actually think if you literally put him in a time machine to pride HW prime, he'd beat everyone, but that's more because modern training and well roundedness. The only useful way to judge is really skill wise and imagine the time era aspects are equal. To be fair it's hard to rank even Ngannou or Gane in Pride or golden era of HWs.

I do kind of agree, but at the same time, imagine how much shit guys like Tom, Gane, Ngannou or Poatan would get if they got knocked out cold by a guy like Randleman.

His stand up looks similar to a young Aleksander E. Tall dude with fast hands blitzing people.

Aleks had a more composed posture, better selection of shots and did not charge with his chin high.

Randleman had all the tools to be a problem to everyone.
His strength was the wrestling and the fighters on your list are highly susceptible to it with the (supposed) exception of Tom (who has never faced a wrestler of that level anyway).

Seriously, Randleman in the today hw division'd be insanely overhyped.

the rematch will tell you a little more. one round plus an eyepoke doesn't really tell you anything; if he comes back and starches gane in the rematch the discussion will pick up again.

We went from people saying Tom would be at least guaranteed top 5-10 in Pride or any era and a potential champion.

To people saying he'd lose to a ton of fighters after seeing him against Gane.

Just goes to show y'all shouldn't have gone so hyperbolic on him.

This is clearly an anti Aspinal circle jerk. Prime Fedor would probably win, and so will crocop. I'd easily pick Tom against the rest.

Not liking the the result of Ganes eye pokes is one thing, but this shit is just delusional.

Yeah - big Nog plodding forward with zero defense at all is sure gonna be a problem <lol> <lol> <lol>

Nog fought prime Fedor, CC and Kharitanov and didnt get knocked out....

Being top 10 in most HW eras (including the peak of Prides HW division) isnt even that big of an achievement honestly. Even when HW is relatively strong you're still not getting 10 genuinely elite guys. The closest we got to that might have actually been Strikeforce during the HW GP, or the UFC shortly after they started bringing in SF guys on top of having Cain, JDS etc.

He'd lose to UFC guys of the era like Paul Buentello and Mostapha al turk

In order for Tom to starch the eye-poker, he was instructed he first needed to shake off being timid or squeamish, also he was to add raw proteins to increase strength.

Everyone knows pride fc HW was the gold standard of heavyweight. UFC has never been able to capture the glory that happened there.

Roided up fighters, giving it 100% of the time, for one tenth the money, and fighting 3-6 times a fucking year.

Anwyas below is a list compiled by chat gpt of the top 30 hw in pride.

Looking through that list I was surprised to see I would have tom aspinall at 18 or 17 on that list. I thikn arona should be below werdumpersonally.

Tom has accomplished and has no legacy compared to the the guys I have above him. I am also judging by potential and I am confident all the guys from 13 onward beat him easily.

I am kind of shocked as the brit fans said he was a new HW, the best we will ever see in our liftimes, and he can't stack up against Pride legends at all.

Saying Fedor beats modern day elite HW's is like saying BJ Penn could beat Khabib, Makhachev and Topuria.

Most fans have zero ability to put their nostalgia bias aside.

You lack logic.
BJ Penn with today's training and knowledge can beat Khabib, yes.

He would be aware of Dagestani Sambo and adapt
