Where do you place nick diaz overall

More names on his resume. And if they fought, Kos would've wrestle-fucked Nick. And there's little Nick could to stop it.

Maybe, although not so sure about that. Anyways its speculation. We did have seen more guys convincingly beating/finishing Kos, and Diaz has done better against common opponents - Daley, GSP, Lawler

I think barely #10, but he'd be tied with a lot of guys. During his Strikeforce run, or maybe after when he was gearing up to fight GSP, Nick said in comparison to GSP's record he "Fights all of the hitters." What he meant by this was that while he was not fighting the top ranked competition, most of whom were wrestlers, he was fighting tougher / scarier guys in strikers like Paul Daley, Cyborg, Zaromskis, and Scott Smith. I remember at the time thinking he's right, but it still doesn't put him near the top.

If he didn't fuck around with his career I have no doubt he'd be higher, but we'll never know for sure.

Kos won a round against 2007 GSP. Nick got 50-45'd by post-knee surgery 2012 GSP. Also, Nick was close to getting stopped before landing the Hail Mary ko against Daley. Point being, I think it's far from conclusive did better against common opponents.

Yeah it may be arguable. I just think while their wins and performances against common opponents may be "equal", I think it's clear that more guys were able to beat up/finish Kos than Diaz, so it place Nick above him imo.
Also a loss by being outpointed/held down is, to me, not as much of a loss in a fight that getting your face busted up or KOed

Let's ask a better question. Is his career ranking (I'm not asking who would win, and if you don't know the difference, FOKY) higher or lower than the following 10 fighters?

Ben Askren
Jake Ellenberger
Martin Kampmann
Josh Koscheck
Diego Sanchez
Karo Parisyan
Thiago Alvez
RDA*
Hayato Sakurai
Stephen Thompson

I think he should be ranked higher than the first 3, lower than the last 3*, and the middle 4 are debatable.

*RDA, like Diaz, had great success at LW. That gets in the way of some of this. Diaz' best win was a) at LW, and b) wasn't officially a win.

If he wasn't his own worst enemy, who knows how things would've went? But I'm guessing top 5 if his head was on straight.

Popularity wise Nick is Top 10 WW. Actual fighting skill and talent he's probably between 12-20.

He is popular and entertaining when he actually fights in the cage. But his resume isn’t too deep and I’d bet on a lot of guys probably ranked in people’s top 10 WWs to beat him because he didn’t adapt and evolve. If you outwrestled or beat up his legs with kicks he would just bitch after the fight and say you were a bitch for not fighting

Nick only beat a old bj that gave him a hard fight

Over half the fight between GSP and Nick was on the feet.

I never said he was better than Nick. He rightfully deserves a spot in the top 10 id argue though. Hes a HOF and defended the title 4 times.

Man, no offense but you talk as if the UFC brand is all you build your criteria around. First of all, UFC back then was not the undisputed #1 MMA org in the planet. The talent was much more spread. And particularly for guys his size.

But anyways, I don't care much about the brand, and I certainly don't give a fuck about who they induct in HOF lol.

I've seen Miletich fights though, barely scrapping by Burnett, many boring decisions, or getting finished by Nakao and Hume, and retiring rather early. He defended the tittle a number of times... yeah one of them against Kenichi Yamamoto if I'm not mistaken. Does that caliber of opponent holds much weight in your book? Not in mine so tell me, concretely, about what fights of him makes you have him that high in all time ranks and particularity above Nick Diaz. But don't tell me about "number of defenses" in a primitive UFC WW division or UFC HOF lol

Yeah GSP is the GOAT WW so what? Tell me about the number of times Nick Diaz has been soundly beaten in a fight, not just out-pointed in a match. Kos has been straight up badly beaten by a number of opponents.

And even taking the GSP fights, yeah you are not just getting it done by spamming the jab against Nick Diaz. He will force you to bring something else to hurt him... or try to hold him down
