Never been an Aimpoint guy. Had one in the Army for a while, hated it.

Department tested the Aimpoint Pro and micro and just didn't like it.

Sort of limits your options then haha. No eotech or Aimpoint. Trijicon maybe.
 
You want nice, reliable optics - you're going to spend some dough. Vortex or Burris are probably as far down the price-ladder as I'd go, but I love my Aimpoint. H1 on my pistol AR, ACOG on the piston, Leupold Mark AR 3-9 on the spr. Have a Vortex 3x magnifier and a Vortex spotting scope - No complaints on either.

That MRO looks nice... 1x mag could be sort of perfect.
 
The thing I have to admit as a Vortex fanboy that I HATE about their red-dot sites is the dot's are like 2MOA and the FOV seems SO SMALL compared to EOTECH, Aimpoint, and the MRO.

I've never tried a vortex red dot. I've used their scopes and binoculars but never the RDs. I honestly don't think I'd even look at them, they don't seem to have the following or hard field testing (use in real combat) thay trijicons, eotech and Aimpoint do.

I've used the Aimpoint micros and pro and really like them other than the mount that comes with the pro.
 
Eyeballing a ruger superblackhawk 44mag, non fluted cylinder, 4.62" barrel.

As bad as I want a freedom arms revolver with a 5" barrel, it's hard to justify it for the price.

Yeah man I have a 6.5 non-fluted bisley super Blackhawk in 454 casull which is a pretty amazing gun.

I have been into the idea of a standard grip (non bisley) 44 with a non fluted barrel. I'm thinking with hogue rubber finger groove grips it would make an awesome hiking/backup gun. I really want an inflicted cylinder (I just think it looks cool and it also makes the cylinder stronger in case you want to fire hot ammo). I really wanted the dragoon style finger guard but that just comes on the 7.5" and 10.5" models.

So basically if I want an inflicted cylinder I can go with the 7.5", 10.5", 4.62" or 3.75".

10.5 is just ridiculous, I don't even know what anybody would use that for, 7.5 is just a bit long for my tastes and 3.75 while awesome is a bit too short for what I'm looking for, so I guess it's 4.62.

I wish they had a 5.5" with the dragoon hand guard, in fluted. But....no.

The nice thing is that it looks like if I want one of these they aren't terrible expensive. I don't really need it, I have just been looking at freedom arms revolvers and it occurred to me hat ruger probably makes something similar that would be 1/4th the cost of a freedom arms and I probably would t be able to tell the difference.

Again, I don't need it, I have the kodiak backpacker 44 and that bisley 454 but I'm liking the idea of single action more and more for woods/bear/backup stuff. Just seems to carry easier and I don't really do any DA shooting with bigger guns anyhow.
 
One thing I really hate about Ruger is their marketing. It seems so, well, goofy.

What do you mean? I don't really read gun magazines or watch the outdoor channel so I don't think ive really seen any of their advertising.

I just check their website and occasionally spend a few minutes on ruger forum.

They seem to put a twist on things now and then but keep stuff pretty similar. Examples:

-10/22: classic, been around for years, they made the takedown and target models.

-super Blackhawk: they added the 454 and 480.

-Hawkeye rifles: the just added the FTW but removed the tactical, all weather models

-ar15: they added the takedown

-RedHawk/srh: that added the Alaskan models (like 7 years ago) and the shortened RedHawk kodiak a few years ago

Most stuff they do just seems to be a twist on the classics, I guess they added the American rifles which are good budged guns and the american pistol which I don't know anything about.

Do they do a lot of advertising?

In fact, I'm trying to think of a gun company whose website I actually really like....

-weatherby....brb....very little information
-browning....lol
-Winchester....so so
-s&w....meh
-BCM....it's cool
-Daniel defense...meh
-glock....the old one was better

On the other hand, I don't know what would make an awesome manufacturers website. For hunting guns, I like to read about what certain guns were specifically designed for and what scenarios they had in mind.

Some cool websites are: Bowen customs, reeder customs, freedom arms.

Savage is the only one where you can start your search with the caliber you want and go from there easily.

That would be helpful for sure. You should get on the reeder custom website and check out some of the custom revolvers he makes....pretty sweet. You basically buy a stock revolver and send it into him.

That would be sweet. As much as I'd like to get a freedom arms revolver, it would be pretty badass to send a factory gun into reeder customs and get something from him. Price would be similar.
