What's funny about all of this is that he fought so many past their prime old champs, yet he won't do the same with Aspinall, and that's where the legitimacy part comes from. Vacating the belt and fighting Periera means nothing for his legacy, he's not "undisputed" HW champ when Tom is the interim champ. That's it.

He is also athletically in his PRIME physically and not 42 years old and 3 years into retirement.

The Weird thing is: if you are a Jon Jones fan why you want to make excuses as to why he shouldn't fight rather than see him fight? I would love to see Jon fight Tom and then Volkov if he beats Gane and then Pav vs Blaydes winner (they should be booked next). That would be great. I agree with most of your post, but Aspinall is the interim champion, and a well deserved one. Wanting to see Jones fight Tom isn't just something fans of Aspinall want to see.
