Crime What should be his punishment?

We've been having grafitti problems in my neighborhood for about 6 months. They keep tagging boxes and now theyre tagging walls of houses. At 9pm last night, we had a dozen cop cars over here because a neighbor caught a tagger doing his wall and he beat up the kid. The kid is like 13 or 14 years old. I wasnt there, just heard the news. They arrested my neighbor.

What should be his punishment?

My prediction is liberals here will want him punished to the full extent of the law while conservatives think he should get a medal.

By graffiti you mean drawings or just idiotic squibbles and gang signs?

Is this a Maga logic thing ?

Are you comparing assault to tagging ?

That’s also a lame ass story ,you got anything better ? Is that a true story ?
MAGA? Yes it’s a real story. My neighbors had no recourse since it happened on “school property”.

Your solution is to do nothing. The same answer to every problem liberals have. Your solutions have been tried in California and they're going bankrupt while the problem gets even worse.
I mean, after a few posts, you chose to say my solution was to do nothing. I even praised the guy who actually brought here a solution that would eventually reduce this crime, but of course you ignored it.

Makes no sense to even try.

What should the punishment for Kid B be?

Kid B got his punishment in the form of the embarrassing video of him getting his ass whooped. Dude will think about that shit every now and again 20 years from now lol

Reading that it’s gang stuff, maybe more than community service.

Kid A was beaten up. Kid B got kicked off the bus for a month. Kid A is the nice kid who now has that video out there of him getting attacked.

I skimmed. I'm calling bullshit on this.

Busses have cameras. Highly doubt this ever happened.

Yes. There were cameras. The parents, my neighbors, saw the whole thing when they were with the principal. Along with the shared video.

Since it was on “school property”, they apparently couldn’t file a police report and it had to be handled by the school.

Respectfully, it sounds like there is more to the story because you can absolutely press charges for assault, regardless of being on "school property".

Texas law apparently. Since the kid was a minor, and it happened on school property, the escalation is with the school.

I’m not the parent and am only involved as a neighbor on the street so I agree I’d find a way to press charges. However, the punishment from the school was what it was. A month off the bus.

Im not saying your story is bullshit, Im sure its true, but what type of magic mystical school is this where the laws of man dont apply there and police have no jurisdiction?
If the kid murders someone does he just get Saturday school?

No idea dude I’m as befuddled as you. Apparently since it was a minor on school property the parents were told they couldn’t escalate. Now, I also think that’s BS, but I’m giving the facts as they are. Perhaps the school does have “jurisdiction” in Texas law, but either way I’d be filing a police report.

As for the guy’s punishment ? He assaulted a minor instead of actually getting any compensation for damages and going through legal proceedings he chose to break the law himself, just last year one of our cars got smashed up by a tree outside the end of our long driveway, someone tried stealing it apparently but lost control ?

We noticed kids a few days prior to that incident walking down the street ( pedestrians are not common where I am ) , anyway my first reaction wasn’t to go out looking to punch people out i actually laughed fir an entire week my guess is that guy is a Trump supporter ? Lol

He will most likely get some anger management classes etc etc as well his punishment should be whatever damages he caused which are most likely far more serious then spray paint ? I don’t know regardless it’s assault .

( Had I caught any or an individual I wouldn’t need to get physical I’m pretty sure words would suffice and if they didn’t get the hint it would then be on them ) beating a kid up s pretty lame I can see the posters who supported that ,it’s not shocking . Lol

I grew up in Dallas (5th, 6th, and 7th grade, so I don't remember any fights lol) and I call bullshit.

ChatGPT agrees with me, but tbh I can't find a nicer clean source and I am getting too lazy to spend more time looking, so I understand if you call bullshit on me too, but I'm for sure skeptical.

In Texas, if your child is assaulted at school, you have the right to file a police report directly, regardless of whether the incident occurred on school grounds. You are not obligated to go through the school's internal processes before contacting law enforcement.

Texas law mandates that any person who suspects a child has been abused or neglected must immediately report it to the appropriate authorities. In emergencies, you should call 911 and then contact the Texas Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400. Online reports can also be made through the Texas Abuse Hotline website. While school employees are permitted to report crimes they witness at school to any peace officer with authority to investigate the crime, this does not preclude parents from taking independent action. Therefore, you are fully within your rights to report the assault directly to law enforcement without waiting for the school's response.Tex..Pub..Law: Online Texas Law Library+1TCTA+1

It's important to document all relevant details of the incident and any communications with the school, as this information can be valuable during the investigation.

Hey, I would also call BS on the school too. It felt completely wrong. I’m just reporting the information as it came to me. What happened and what the parents were told.

At least everyone is agreeing that the police should be involved for my story

Hard to judge without seeing the graffiti. I have a few large canvases I purchased from renowned graffiti artists hanging on my walls.

Is it the same line of thought that "We have to be tough on the war on drugs"?

Proved, extensively, not to produce the best results. You either give the incentives so the problem dont happen again or you are just trying to ice skate uphill. Do policies that REDUCE the problem, not just punish for the sake of punishment. You just want kids to keep graffiting so you can keep beating them without any visible improvement to the matter.

You're talking to people who think they can morally police people on the short end of wealth distribution, because hierarchical thought has convinced them that it's what those people deserve, and in order to deserve better they kist pass certain purity tests.

For property damage? Seems a bit harsh.

But I'll allow it in hopes that it sends a clear message to others like him.

"Others like him"

Ive done much worse then this ,this is isn’t that serious it’s spray paint I can list several other things they could’ve done but the under lying problem is the cause to how to fix it not punish beyond community service ( I actually enjoyed mine ) not everyone has critical thinking skills ,it doesn’t take much brain power to get angry ,most can’t actually fix problems,I doesn’t matter why they did it that’s Trump logic right there .

How about we just fix the problem instead ? Lol

This type of behavior in teen boys is nothing new. There have been teens clubs, teen activities and all kinds of stuff out there for teens to do. Including all kinds of sports. I keep mine busy all the time with sports an martial arts to give him limited time to get in trouble. The activities ate there and should continue to be. Either the parents are not keeping them involved in the available activities or the teen just doesn't want to be involved in them.

If you fuck with people's property and damage it you should be punished and make to restore it. Make it not worth the thrill of doing this. Not jail time unless he is a shit head with a record already. He should be punished and made to fix it or pay to fix the damage.
