What knife did you carry today?

Yeah man, me too. The tri ad is supposed to be bullet proof.

I have a SOG Flash Tanto for hiking but i picked up this beauty today...

Gerber Dime

Fits perfect on my key chain. Seems solid but light and has a blade meant to cut those gay plastic packages

Recon's have the Tri-Ad lock, do they not? I'm curious to hear about the circumstances that the knife failed under.

I was out camping and it got subjected to a lot of sand, dirt, and heavy heavy water. On the first day it got subjected to a lot of sand that I guess got deep into the knife. Then the following day I was outside when we got hit by this tsunami of a storm. After the storm was over and we dried off and were going to bed for the night, I went to reach in my back pocket to get the knife out and stabbed myself because the knife wouldn't stay closed all the way anymore. When I close it, it will stay in until I turn the knife so that it was blade facing down, whereupon the knife falls out maybe an inch, just enough to get yourself cut if you happened to have it in your pocket. Whenever i open or close the knife I could feel the sand inside the knife so I'm not sure if that was what was causing the issue.

As far as I know, the knife was strong when it was open but it just wouldn't stay closed.

Anyways, I sent it back to Cold Steel and they refunded me for the knife.

The Izula is the one I initially wanted. I'll probably get that now and a folder later. Would just drop the cash for both but gotta attend a wedding and you know how that goes.

And lol at nutnfancy. So much for the whole no product politics stuff.

I'm awaiting a Spyderco Ambitious as present and an Extrema Ratio BF1 for myself.

Kershaw Blur, plan on purchasing an Osborne 940 soon. The slimness is attracting me

Kershaw blur. Love it. Was thinking about buying an auto bc they just made it legal to carry thenn in Texas. Maybe just a boker ak or something.

Does anyone recommend a good sharpener? I have a wedding coming up and I think it'd be a good idea to put one on our registry. I heard spyderco makes a good one but I'm a noob when it comes to sharpening.

I like my Lansky Set, but the Spyderco Sharpmaker seems to be alright as well, and maybe is a bit easier to use. Whenever I leave home I take my Lansky with me and sharpen all knives I can get my hands on, where-ever I'm staying.

Cool deal. And that's good for everything? Like kitchen knives to pocket knives?

Yep.

This is the video that comes with the Sharpmaker. You can use it on all of your knifes and sharpen other stuff too like chisels, scissors etc.

The video is a little dated, but it has the man himself, Sal Glesser demoing the Sharpmaker. Sal makes it look so easy. It takes some practice though.

Carving knife, Extrema Ratio BF1CT and a Spyderco Ambitious for my girlfriend. First knife ftw.

Notes on the ER BF1CT: Nice knife, good size for EDC in a rather formal context, I really dig the blade, it's nice and sharp, sturdy and solid. My first tanto-tipped knife, I hope I like that...Opening and closing works smoothly but gives a little resistance, which feels stable and good. The deep-carry clip is great. Great quality, price seems alright.
It's also the only ER-folder I don't find repulsive, their designs are horrid...

I like the drop point version of the bf2.

Agreed about their designs though. Most are just hideous.

I'm trying IWB carry with my ESEE3 at the moment. I'm wearing jackets or pullovers nearly every day, and it's the "legaler" way of carrying a knife over here...
