What knife did you carry today?

I just got an ESEE Izula and a Fire Set from my tactical secret santa. In summer, yes. Love it!

Max blade length is 4 inches. That's still a pretty sizable blade.
Knives, however, are not great self defense weapons unless you have considerable training.

i have had plenty of experience stabbing people if you know what i mean, wink, wink

:P

I have an Izula II with the micarta scales. Awesome little fixed blade and ESEE is a great company.

I have an ESEE 4 and it's my favorite knife for sure. I'm REALLY hoping they come through with a folder!

On top of my irrational desire to own an Emerson CQC-7, I'm also beginning to want an Emerson Karambit. While I've never really had to use force very often at work and despite making my flashlight my go to item for my off hand, I'm beginning to see the appeal of the karambit style blade of a reverse grip, off hand option.

None that I've seen yet. Probably very similar to the fixed version.

I want one too. But they're always sold out.

When I began my Emerson obsession, my local knife store actually had one in stock. At the time I turned it down because I hadn't yet owned an Emerson and had no desire to own a karanbit. I kind of wished I pulled the trigger then.

Ernie announced on Facebook that another batch is almost done.

I'll keep my eyes open for you.

Too bad karambits are illegal over here, those look neat.
I will probably get a CQC-7 at some point.

Knife laws are one big grey area in Canada. I'm pretty certain if I were pulled over by the cops and they found a karambit on me, I would have some serious 'splainin' to do.

I'd have to do the 'splainin' for every knife that you can open with one hand, but karambits are a total no-go. Stupid German legislation...

To be honest, you probably wouldn't be asked by a cop to see it for something as trivial as a traffic violation.

You know what I mean though. If for whatever reason a cop searched me and found it.

Yeah, however the longer I've been involved with stuff like this, especially knives, the less I worry. Not having a prohibited weapon, as per the Criminal Code of Canada, not brandishing your knife in public and making threatening gestures should keep you in the clear. My work pants are dark in colour and my black scaled Emersons go virtually unnoticed.

Just last night, some kid was shot by TPS on a TTC street car after brandishing a knife, threatening the occupants, clearing out the vehicle and refusing the drop his knife:

Don't do that shit and you should be good.

I just ordered a Spyderco Persistence. It's not one of their more expensive models, but I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I think you'll like it. The tenacious line is great value for the money and being a cheaper knife you won't feel bad about really pounding on it.
