What knife did you carry today?

=Hampster Dick, Kaosx, DTrain and Jlag=

Nice posts to enlighten the uninitiated, good job boys, carry on.

When I get old, I'm carrying a Cold Steel Sword Cane:

Yep, never know when you'll have to defend yourself from an apple or grapefruit attack.

Never mind getting old, I started limping so I can carry one now without looking conspicuous. People do ask about the face shield and work gloves though.

I'm Can-fail-ian, I can't carry a firearm on my person without what's called an "ATC"; Authorization To Carry, which is virtually impossible to obtain amongst most private citizens. Of the "5 blades" I "mentioned" but didn't necessarily show in that picture, one is the little 1.5" blade on the Victornox SilverTech Signature Lite that hangs on my keyring, and another is the 3.1" mystery steel, chisel ground, partially serrated blade that's part of my SOG PowerLock EOD multi tool that I use as a beater blade. In that actual picture, the only strictly folding knives on my person were the Spyderco Endura 4 Wave, Cold Steel Spartan, and Cold Steel Rajah II. Somedays I will carry all 3 knives (not blades, note this distinction I'm making), sometimes I'll only carry 1 or a combination of 2, but I always have my multi tool and Swiss Army knife as well, which, I guess, increases my blade count.

Just adding a little to elaborate on a few points regarding my personal choices and environment, technically when I carry all those blades, it may be deemed illegal. The Criminal Code of Canada prevents the use of a knife as a weapon or means of self defense but aside from a list of prohibited styles of knives (gravity opening, switchblade, push daggers, and a bunch of ninja shit) there aren't really any other laws preventing me from carrying what I carry. There are no specific regulations regarding blade length and locking mechanism save for the ones already mentioned, however, the Law leaves a lot of room for interpretation and discretion on the behalf of the investigating Peace Officers. So it's a bit of a double edged sword (pun intended) while there's no black and white definition preventing me from carrying those particular knives, if I am questioned, I have to somehow justify it and provide a reasonable explanation for each blade; if I actually tell a cop that my Rajah II is for self defense, I can face criminal charges.

That being said, I don't plan on getting caught, and I think it's "better to be judged by twelve than carried by six." All those knives were purchased legally and are legal to own in Canada under the right contexts, don't have to be registered like firearms do in our freedom-hating country, are difficult to trace, are more "disposable" than firearms, and I can conceal them easily.

While the main purpose behind my choice to carry a knife is to have a utilitarian cutting tool at my disposal, I do like the secondary benefit of being more capable of defending myself or at the very least, deterring a potential attacker. Unfortunately, I have to play within a legal grey area to do so.

Don't forget the added benefit of being able to make Shish kabob whenever I please. :icon_chee

Name dropper. :D

Be careful of that Strider though, under real world use when camping I know of and have seen them fail. Chips turning to cracks, that S30V isn't all its cracked up to be practically speaking.

Really?
The one thing about a Strider,if it breaks, they fix it.
I have several Striders...I wish Busse would make a folder.

mini Gerber paraframe. Useful for tasks at work.

That's known as hype, Strider charges you to fix what is broken, Busse, Swamprat, Scrapyard, Becker and ESEE just fix it or give you a new one.

Strider Knives Inc. Statement of Warrantee:

If it's broken, we'll fix it.
If it's dull, we'll sharpen it.
If it's old and tired, we'll refurbish it.
Some things have a fee, some don't.
Ask around ... we won't do you wrong.

The thing to me with survival knives is that I don't want it to break under an circumstance. Having a good warranty isnt enough if it breaks right when you need it.

With that said - I wish I still had my RAT-5 (now esee 5), it was a great knife.

Did not carry today, sick as a dog with the flu, but I did play with my Becker BK2...

Outfitted the sheath w/550 cord, ranger bands and a Leatherman Surge, will be my go to camping/outdoors set up.

I thought you just got that one?

I had my hands on one and then went with the Becker BK2, either one is a bulletproof chunk of no holds barred awesomeness.

Holy shit over a minute to get that fucking out of the box. Quit grab assing and get that damn thing open. I had already busted three nuts just imagining what was in the box. And when I saw it I damn near crapped my pants. What you have there is a switch-machete.

Planning on stabbing an elk? Nice move nonetheless sir.

It turns out that handling a knife and opening a package behind a camera and tripod is surprisingly hard. If I didn't have to worry about filming, I would have zipped through that shit like a...sharp knife through paper and bubble wrap.

Your going after Bigfoot on a hike!

Great Knife brother!!
