What knife did you carry today?

I carry a knife as part of my edc, I have a folder for tasks and a small fixed blade for fighting. I don't live in a bad neighborhood but you don't get to decide when someone else will attack you.

Im also not at home all the time either. I ride a bus through town to work 2x a day, I go out with my family.

I have training with edged weapons as well as firearms.

I carry this guy everyday :)

Practically all of the guys here who carry every day view their blades as tools for every day use, NOT for protection. We could probably list quite a few non-tactical scenarios where a knife comes in handy. I use mine everyday.

Even if I tried to deploy my knife in a tactical sense, I'd probably fumble with it, drop it, cut myself with it, or all of the above. I prefer running.

Ok, that makes sense. I have a couple of very nice knives, too, but I never carry them around.

Oh and I forgot this one. It's in my bag as a spare knife if I need to dig or twist something and don't want to ruin the blade of the better one

This is the murder-weapon no.1 in Finland, swedish Mora knife. Price 1 €. Sharp, cheap, simple, perfect

Been logging some serious OT hours at work. Decided to treat myself so I ended up ordering this.

Got the Endura today..it's quite a bit larger than my Benchmade mini-grip. The edging is a tad warped towards the tip. I much prefer the axis locking mechanism on the benchmade as it makes closing the knife one handed a lot easier. The endura is large enough that I may have difficulty explaining to a cop that it's just a utility knife.

There will always be a few cops that will harass you for carrying a knife regardless:

Remember that they're just enforcers of the law but not necessarily interpreters; quite a few cops can be pretty ignorant about what a civilian can and can't have on their person, especially in Canada's anti-self defense environment. But an Endura is still pretty defanged/dehorned compared to a bunch of other, more "tacticool" looking folders that still get past cops. The beauty with carrying a knife in Canada is that you still have the, "I carry it as a tool" explanation, just keep your explanation nice and polished (e.g. "In case I flip my car over and have to cut off my seatbelt") and act like a normal citizen.

Part of the reason why I carry several different knives is aside from the fact that they each excel in different types of cutting tasks, some may not be socially appropriate. If I feel that pulling out my 4" Ti-Mil to open envelopes will freak some people out, I'll use my 1.5" Swiss Army knife on my keychain.

I've been working on the one handed closing technique with the Endura. Starting to get the hang of it a little more.

This thing is WAY sharper than my mini grip, it cuts through paper like butter. And after using it a bit today, I really like the ergo's of the handle on the Spydie.

ffg, ftw!

For my EDC needs, I think a FFG delica will be in order.

This is getting out of hand but I decided to look for something smaller and lighter duty for my EDC needs. I still like having the Endura for heavier duty carry when I go fishing, hiking or help my pops out in the yard. I was thinking delica 4 or sog flash I. Went to SportChek to see what they had. I tried out the delica 4 but the flash I was more along what I was looking for in terms of size. However, I didn't really like the ergonomics of the handle. I was about to call it quits until I noticed this:

Spyderco Dragonfly. It felt perfect, super light, subtle looking for using at the office and the wife won't freak out at the thought of me carrying it every day. They only had a serrated version though, so I opted to purchase a plain edge version online.

Perfect blade shape for a defensive blade. Obviously the size isnt there but I don't know if you consider knives to be part of your arsenal in that regard.
