Bought a couple of new training knives to go along with some knife training I'm getting with Tom Kier in February!

Got one of these for Christmas. I 've had about 4 of them, and they either get lost or stolen, it's my unicorn.

It's irritating to me that people consider knives a weapon first. Any time I've pulled out my knife (always for a purpose not just to show it off) people take a step back. I don't carry my knife with the intention of EVER using it for self defense. I carry it cause I use it every day. Light prying, opening packaging, cutting paper neatly, etc. I need a knife.

I carry one of these on my keychain:

and todays edc blade was the spyderco Stretch

At work I carry a full flat ground spyderco endura, faster than a seatbelt cutter and way more versatile.

I've actually thought about a knife for self defense or tactical purposes, and I'd want a fixed blade. Folders take time, even with the wave deployment system. But unless I'm out in the woods or a warzone, a fixed blade loses its practicality.

I think neckers and similar small fixed blades are pretty cool. I've been wanting to buy an ESEE Izula for a while now, to permanently attach to the shoulder strap of my pack which pretty goes with me everywhere. I've just got to wait until my Christmas bills are paid off at the end of the month.

I carried this today:

I also have

Both are automatic. Not assisted full auto. lol

I always carry a knife. I rotate between these three:

Benchmade Auto-Stryker

Kershaw Ken Onion Leek (composite blade)

Spyderco Endura 4 (the one I usually carry)

My girlfriend got me the kershaw chive for christmas. I am very impressed with the speed of opening. It makes me want to get the scallion.

They're quick little devils. I like how slim it is, makes it very unobtrusive when carried.

I carry the Spyderco Delica 4 daily, also rotate in a smith and wesson rescue model(my junk knife).

I usually carry these, depending of the purpose

Big one for chopping, Marttiini twin cut, local brand

all-round knifes
Marttiini Kojamo

and many more but these above are my favorites

Why do you guys carry knives everyday?
Is your neighborhood that dangerous?

I love the simplicity of Scandinavian knife sheaths, though I've only ever had them with fishing knives.

Does it hold a hunting knife securely or do they ever fall out?

Answer to the last two questions above.

I carry knifes because I work as a wilderness guide and when I'm off I usually go fishing.

The sheath on the big knife is very safe, it has a wheel that locks the bolster to the sheath.

I have dropped a knife accidentally only once when snowmobiling (IJ one), so they stay well. Leather sheaths are very good.

Practically all of the guys here who carry every day view their blades as tools for every day use, NOT for protection. We could probably list quite a few non-tactical scenarios where a knife comes in handy. I use mine everyday.

Even if I tried to deploy my knife in a tactical sense, I'd probably fumble with it, drop it, cut myself with it, or all of the above. I prefer running.
