What is your favorite style of fighter?

Taekwondo was my first martial art so I like fighters who use lot of kicks and spinning shit.

Pettis, Anderson, Holloway, Wonderboy, MVP, Zabit, Yair...
It was mine too and the only kicks I like now are thai style lmao.

My ultimate fighter would be Machida combined with the ground skills of Maia (and takedowns of Khabib, but that seems like asking too much)

If you think about it in these terms, you can see how much room there still is for fighters to get better.

I know that's a broad question so take it how you want to.

My favorite these days is the long and lanky pressure fighters. I love watching fighters with big power exchange with the pressure fighters but over the rounds begin to fade as they get pulled into deep waters. So Max, Nate and Tony would be some guys I've been liking over the last few years.

One that wins. Because in fighting winning is what matters -- and the more serious the fighting (ie war) the more important winning is. Winning pretty is a bonus, but very secondary to winning. Fighting is about skill and mental toughness, but also about intelligence -- and in fact fighting intelligently is the prime strength of humans. Its why we're top of the food chain. Without it we're tiger and lion food.

So I suppose if I had to pick one element of fighting above all others, I'd say I prefer intelligent fighters, ones that can adapt their tactics to win.

Prime Shogun's style. Not afraid to engage, knockout power, throws kicks, takes chances, and has grappling skills so he has the ability to not be stuck on bottom if he gets taken down.

I like fighters who come forward, and have the objective at all times to end the fight. Fedor, Nick and Nate Diaz, Matt Brown, Ubereem, prime Anderson Silva (he was more of a counter striker, but still incredible to watch and ended fights brutally).

edit: Jiri would be another name to add to that list.

I'm going to go with Lay & pray or wall & stall!

My two favourites.

Heart, skill, creativity, balls, no weight-cutting, and pure class in and out of the ring.

Everyone loves a good striker, I tend to lean more towards kickboxers because I like kicks. Too bad Rockhold is a douche cause his kick heavy style and slick jitz/overwhelming top control is really right up my alley.

I love grappling, but I hate boring wrestlers. I like chain wrestlers and submission specialists. It’s too bad khabib destroyed everyone I like because with his style he would probably be my favorite but instead I’m not a fan because I’m petty.

basically, I think I’m too invested in fighters lol I should focus more on skill set rather than who I like and don’t like for whatever reason.

Fighters who plan and execute said plan well (GSP, Dillashaw, Izzy, Usman)
Breaking down high level opponents and winning despite their deficiencies
Ofcourse I love a wild fight but that the fleeting joy, the long lasting satisfaction comes from winning skilled fighters

Great thread and replies. Going with @textwarrior's post, it's tough for me to put into words but I can feel when I'm watching when someone's doing things a bit different from the rest. Or someone who shows great improvements over time. Especially enjoy when underdogs come out with an updated style and whups the favorite. I'm newer to watching than many here but off the top of my head I'd say some examples are Cruz, Aldo, Rose, Tatiana & Izzy.

I enjoy watching fighters who use consistent forward pressure & a variety of striking techniques/combinations. Bonus points if they have creative throws, trips & striking in the clinch.
