Since when has a retired status ever held anyone back from calling someone a GOAT? GOAT literally means Of All Time, so retirement is actually prefered, because you can review their entire career. Hell, Ali is long dead and he is still called the GOAT by many.
Sure, because it's a dick move to the one that is possibly getting the worst in the exchange, and if the fighters are still active and it is current footage, you don't want to give anything away to the opposition. Therefor whatever is released will always be varefully seleceted, so it won't have any real negative consequences to the fighters or the gym. Therefor you lnow there is a selection process where there is a discussion and asked consent, before releasing it. It's the same with social media. People put pictures on their social media that makes them look good. Same for fighters, they release footage that makes them look good. It's still real footage 99% of the time, but's only what they want you to see. Not what every day practice necessarily looks like.but they want the opposition to think that it looks like they are constantly in beast mode 24/7 *insert Corey Anderson*. It's part of the mental warfare between gyms. Because as a gym, the guy who is going up against your fighter is constanly thinking about the guy from your gym. A lot of great fighters already have their opponents beat before the fight itself, because they are intimidated by the reputation that a fighter has and a lot of that reputation comes from teammates and trainers being in the media, telling everybody the near impossible feats their fighter has been doing during camp. Same like with Ronda supposedly dropping boxing champs with body shots in sparring. Difference is Edmund took it a bit too far, obviously. It's too unbelievable. But it's the same mindset of promoting the guy or girl from your gym.
