I'd believe it, not that I know what you're even referring to. I just never got along with most of my teachers at the college level. They'd be threatened for whatever reason by me, an older student who had real opinions. That was exhausting doing work either my best or more than enough and getting my grades fucked with, I had to give it up.Not every professor but seen lots of under handed shit go on around getting tenure.
As far as tenure, ya, that shit is tired, these guys are fucking obsessed with it and if they don't get it they take it out on everyone around them.
Most of all, many of those profs, i just couldn't figure out what the hell they even did, they'd lecture but they had a small coterie of asshole TA's who if you had the misfortune to have to deal with them, they are even more craven in their pursuit of power and they also assigned ridiculous workloads. Little assholes and bitches, take it out on the undergrads because they are getting worked over, it was weird.
Some of the profs I liked and some I didn't and some that I didn't like had some amazing qualities but they were still small minded. I had one who was killing my grades, last class of my degree and I was beaten into submission by that point, I just accepted a 2.00 or whatever the fuck it was he gave me. Do not believe it when they tell you they want your best work or your own ideas and opinions, they hate that shit. Anyway, I heard he was denied tenure, i don't know why but I could imagine with his contentious attitude he was making the wrong enemies, he was actually quite a good teacher as far as his knowledge and thouroughness. He seemed the type to love arguing with anyone, he was a former cop believe it or not and was canned from that, probably for the same reasons, just too radical or just too non-conforming. That's not a bad quality in itself but that's a lonely road as I'm sure he learned.
