What is the appeal of O'Malley?

He’s no doofus that’s for sure. Outside of that ridiculous appearance, he’s a dedicated prize fighter who has come from the bottom to become one of the most watchable fighters in the Octagon. Kudos

I don't have the data to answer that question. I'm speculating because Gen Z are the types of idiots who are ok with microtransactions in video games and using Onlyfans when porn is free. The people who consistently donate money to Twitch streamers. Shit like that. Maybe Sean is getting paid but I don't have access to his bank account or what other fighters are making outside the UFC who aren't targeting the audience Sean is.

I get why O'Malley can be hateable, but I can also see his appeal; he's a fairly honest dude when he isn't trying to promote fights. I also think he has the younger age demo with his game-streaming and overall rhetoric. I don't know... just seems like someone that knows how to garner attraction from a young audience.

He has his own look and alternative views. He gets to cheat on his wife because he brings home all the money. He's said it's always been this way for guys who make a lot of money. He also said that Dana's wife deserved to be slapped back.

I have no idea of any real O’Malley fans exist. Even asked some younger Gen z guys I train with, who are right in his demographic, how they felt about him and they didn’t like him.

What I’m saying is for how “popular” & “polarizing” the UFC keeps telling us O'Malley is. Wouldn’t he have those type of casual mainstream fans as well?

I really can't answer, but that's because I focus almost exclusively on what happens in the cage. I'm not really a fan anymore of the athlete as a total person. The tone established by Conor is part of the reason, but not all. I now just like or dislike fighters based on in-cage performance.

(Once in a while I can appreciate a good looking WMMA dame.)
