NFL is more dangerous then the UFC. Both van suffer from serious CTE or career ending situation but NFL you can get seriously injured from someone who's larger then you.

The weekend that Chael and Rua fought in Boston, a local news outlet wrote a very antiUFC article. It was barbaric. It was dangerous. Kids were going to be in the audience.

I made a comment at the end of the article that there would be more concussions in that weekend's Patriots game than the UFC card.

My comment was deleted.

I hear ya, I have a Strahan soft spot so always favour them NY wise. Allen and Diggs have been fantastic, but we can't get our hopes up. I'm just grateful I got to watch us win our division yesterday. Saints aren't looking VERY good, I thought it was them v Packers in the Super Bowl. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'll root for ya ;)

They barely ever even get KO'd dude. They wear helmets and pads. Meanwhile Wanderlei...
Helmets don't protect from concussions.

Your brain gets slammed against the inside of your skull whether you wear a helmut or not.

Look at it this way:

- drop an egg on the ground. The shell cracks open and the yolk scrambles and oozes out.

- drop an egg on the ground, but wrap it in bubble wrap. Sure, the shell stays intact. But, the yolk still becomes scrambled.

Yeah but NFL players do not lead with the helmet. That's actually an infraction. The brunt of the impact is almost never on the head. Meanwhile, in MMA....

And TBH I am talking about how everything in MMA adds up.

It's not just the fights.

It's the training. The sparring. And, probably most of all, the weight cutting. We still don't even know what the long term impacts of the extreme weight cutting you see in high level MMA because the sport hasn't been around long enough.

Overall probably football, but it also depends on how you fight and train and what position you play in football. Ignoring all that, the fact that football players play a minimum of 16 games a season means they're taking way more damage over the course of their career. A guy who plays football for 10 years may have 200+ games played - what high level fighter has 200 fights?
Dont forget the decade or so leading up to the Pros. All those practices, and school/city games, it's crazy punishment depending on the position.

Statistically the NFL. More serious injuries than UFC. For instance, we've seen only a handful of catastrophic bone fractures in the UFC since its inception. In the NFL, you see at least one every season (look at Dak this year for example). A year or two before that, a TE for the Bears almost had to have his leg amputated because he suffered an in game injury that basically turned his leg entirely backwards. The severity of the injuries is worse in the NFL. In UFC, most guys who sustain a serious injury come back to fight again. In the NFL, the types of injuries these guys have are often career ending because they could get seriously injured if they were to play again or even die.

Do you even know what CTE is?
Way more concussions in football. But fighters suffer more low level repetitious damage, it's hard to say which is worse. But you don't really hear about too many "punchy" footballers.
It might just be a dirty little secret, though.

NFL sweeps that under the rug.
Fighting is worse for your looks
Football is worse for your brain.

Kinda thought that might be the case. Must be pretty bad in rugby as well. Only time I have ever had a concussion was headbutting someone.
