What is more dangerous NFL or UFC?

Don’t write this off as just a movie scene. It’s pretty accurate. Even with the helmet, football players have the potential for a ton more blows to the head

NFL by and large is easily more dangerous than MMA, it's really not even close at all. The crazy use of steroids, the hardware the players are equipped with, the rules of the game, all of it just setting these men up to survive several car wrecks every Sunday.

YouTube NFL's greatest hits and it's a wonder we dont see fatalities every sunday.

NFL. Knowing what I now know about CTE I would never let my kids play American football. Don't get me wrong, MMA is not perfectly safe by a longshot, but the brain damage potential in football is much higher. Unless you train like vintage Shoot Boxe.

NASCAR is more dangerous. Any extreme sport is more dangerous and manly than playing UFC.

Most UFC fans say NFL is more dangerous I dont think so though. NFL athletes dont get routinely KO'd or choked out. Nor do they spar or cut weight. If you watch an NFL game its mostly twisted knees and ankles. Rember Overeem vs Ngannou? Shots like that kill people IRL.
NFL is much more dangerous. All statistics support this claim.

There is literally no legitimate argument to say that UFC is more dangerous. It is not.

Yeah but NFL players do not lead with the helmet. That's actually an infraction. The brunt of the impact is almost never on the head. Meanwhile, in MMA....

And TBH I am talking about how everything in MMA adds up.

It's not just the fights.

It's the training. The sparring. And, probably most of all, the weight cutting. We still don't even know what the long term impacts of the extreme weight cutting you see in high level MMA because the sport hasn't been around long enough.
There is no argument to support this view. NFL is extremely dangerous and has high rates of career ending injuries and permanent damage. UFC knockouts are nothing compared to repeated brain trauma.

Dont forget the decade or so leading up to the Pros. All those practices, and school/city games, it's crazy punishment depending on the position.

Lots of people get serious injuries in the NFL. But SO MANY MORE get fucked up before they ever make it. High School football is incredibly dangerous.

Yes but we know what really happens most of the time in training... guy gets his bell rung and goes back for more.

TRUE!

It's a useless form of machismo, actual toxic masculinity that kills brain cells in millions of men worldwide.

Leading to cognitive issues, hormonal imbalances, permanent headaches, weaker chinand more.

I was like that too, and realized a bit late. The younger generation should know what's up.

But, if you are smart about it, you CAN play the game and do those adjustments.
You could literally have a full MMA career and never take serious punishment.
Imagine Khabib or Ryan Hall with no hard sparring.

I agree completely. Weight cutting is essentially lying about your weight (and wanting to fight someone smaller) and that shit pisses me off...

Weight cutting is an art onto itself while people who never experienced it act like it's a magic cheat code.

It’s a real question

but I’d have to say NFL running backs and wide receivers get the brunt of it, games are way longer than a fight, and every week in the season

Yeah and they are active like 5' per game. Need time for these commercials.

Why is it an art? Sounds retarded to me. And yes i have cut weight before, never a lot though.
What is the purpose of cutting if it isn't to lie about your weight. Fights would be a lot better if they weren't drained and didn't spent half the camp focused on "making" weight. I know what is involved in a heavy cut and it's flat out retarded.

Running back is the only job where you’re considered washed up by age 28.

Yeah, a lot don't last a couple of seasons in amateur, they don't do the prep it takes to receive that damage. It's not just the concussion etc, the bruising etc is brutal. Usually a knee or ankle does em.

There's really no comparison.

NFL players get concussions but the average UFC fighter that has 20+ fights probably has had a minimum of 3-4 concussions by the end of their career. Most of the time when they get KO'd it's a concussion and they also get minor concussions other times even when not KO'd. They get their bell ring but don't lose consciousness but probably still got a concussion.

Wanderei and the like have probably had 8-10 concussions in their lifetime, Hendo too.

You do realise that @eternaldarkness was a professional fighter right.....

No, and apologies for assuming, but as a former wrestler, I stand by my weight cutting statement.

It sucks, I've done it and felt like shit, but I've never considered it cheating.

I actually had more injuries from my high school wrestling career than I did for football.

I got broken ribs, torn ligaments, stitches and a broken nose from wrestling. I did get a concussion doing both though. I had two in high school, one in football and one in wrestling.
