The US is gonna have so many allies that will follow international law and not commit any war crimes, like they always do.
Every soldier will get all the gear they need and have medical coverage after they're victorious in the war.
None of them will become addicted to drugs or alcoholics and none will suffer PTSD.
And every politician will go fight and serve and send their kids to war like they always do like everyone else.

Trump is saber-rattling a war with them. I understand that Maduro is a thug, but he is one of many in the world. We do business with several thugs like the Saudi, Kuwaiti, and Qatar Monarchies. Granted, our country is already in debt and we don't have many allies given Trump's behavior regarding Ukraine. This mission would end up entirely off the backs and financial well-being of everyday Americans and it posesses an extremely low probability of success.

There isn't "any armed faction in opposition against Maduro" that we could push over the hump with intervention. We would just be attacking a country and hoping that something good happens as we tear apart their standards of living.

Not like Iraq, middle eastern wars etc. This countries government is in colluding with criminals to distribute drugs to the U.S. IMO, if Trump wasn't so hell bent on keeping out of wars, and the history of needless US wars, this would actually be a no brainer. This is the kind of foreign government that needs to be out of power which directly impacts the lives of Americans.

Do you want these labs to continue to make drugs to smuggle or do you just cut off the head and stop production? Obviously, the best course of action is to destroy the production facilities, the only problem is trying to rationally explain this to Americans would be difficult. Americans have PTSD from all the wars they've started, and now they don't want any. I get it, but wars can still be justified today, under circumstances such as this, imo.

Seems a bit strange Trump would go to war for this when he is pardoning someone who is in jail for helping to get 400 tons of drugs into the us

A war with Venezuela would be a disaster. The country is already falling apart and has failing infrastructure and cannot feed its own people even in peace time. The country is extremely mountainous which makes doing pretty much anything, like waging war, incredibily difficult.

Being close to the United States just means we'll more likely feel the impacts of the fallout, yet it's far enough away and across an ocean the logistics situation doesn't meaningfully change. If anything the lack of development and mountainous terrain just makes it worse than what we dealt with in Iraq and even Afghanistan.

This would be a forever war with millions displaced, but this time in our hemisphere.
