what is best running shoes?

The Nike Freeruns where awsome. Not sure if they are still around. Those were the best "running" shoe. All purpose Shoe?, Nike Air Force.

Tried some new shoes after using Saucony Guides for many years. Tested out Hokas for the first time (Clifton, Bondi etc) and I'm not a fan of their shoes. They're very clunky and I would never do a race or long run in them. They might be better for heavier people or anyone looking for tons of cushion. A lot of people seem to love them though, so I'm not sure what to say. Some of the New Balance models were pretty decent but, not surprisingly, I ended up settling on some of the Asics models. It's really hard to go wrong with Asics and Saucony. They have such a wide variety of high quality shoes.

I went with the Asics Novablast 5. They're very solid, even though they still have a little too much cushion for my liking.

I might do some long races next year and these feel like something I would consistently use for both training and racing. I probably won't mind a bit more cushioning on the longer runs.

On a sidenote, the Asics Dynablast 5 are basically the Novablast 3 at a discount. I would recommend them as well. I also tried the Saucony Guide 18 just to see where they're at. Still a great shoe and highly recommend for every day trainers.

I love puma shoes. They feel great when I am running.
I wear Hookahs. That's probably not the shoe's name. But, that's how I remember it. Was running in them today.

I've never tried the ......blast line of asics. Just too expensive for me. However, I keep reading great things about the Superblast. They never go on sale and sit around the $320 range which I find outrageous. But they're meant to be a great everyday trainer and long lasting.

I recently bought two pairs of Saucony Endorphin Speed 4's at $160 each. They're sitting at my mom's place along with 5 other pairs of shoes. Can't wait to get home and take my dog for a run with all my new shoes.

A guy I work with is big into the marathons and he swears by Nike. He buys the stupid expensive carbon fiber ones and they only last him like a month though.

Adidas released a model that's only good for ONE marathon.

Thanks for the post. I like that shoe, all I wear is Saucony.
I don't run, they just fit my foot well.

in for the one posted and the all black

Brooks
Mizuno
Asics
New Balance

Those are my favorites. I've realized it depends a lot on the fit. If you have a slightly wider foot, or an in between size, the small differences between brands may fit your foot better. I buy made in the USA New Balance most of the time, but My Brooks and Mizuno's were nice.

RIP bud lol

Run about 45 to 75 miles a week.
Yesterdays Garmin Log, ran bout 12.

Last couple of months, been closer to the higher end.
Had a couple of friends, who run as well, suggest Hokas, they have been for years.
I should prolly give those a whirl.
Not really a shoe guy, but if it provides stability & gives me cushion on the long haul, with out being heavy, I'm good.
Don't care about the brand.

Currently in Adidas Supernova Solution 2s, and they have been solid on trail & treadmill too.

The only Asics I bought, maybe due to the design or shape, each time I'd walk in them, my toes would end up numb for a while. Immediately donated them.

I had a few ASICS. They were comfortable, light and looked good, but the backs would go out in them almost immediately.

I wear a shoe from Trespass at the moment, but my old laceless Sketchers were my go to for a while. I still have them, but they're beat up and have zero grip, so I use them as driving shoes.

I just bought a new pair of Asics this past weekend, and it’s like running on clouds. I love them. They’re the only running shoe I buy.

That said, my previous pair wasn’t all that great. It felt like I was running on blocks of cement.

But two of the three pairs of Asics I’ve had were fantastic.

I'm pretty sure this is a personal question for anyone who runs regularly

For me, at least right now, Mizuno Wave Horizon 8

I had some New Balance's before but they felt too squishy. A few pairs of Nike but they never fit me right.

These are like a stability shoe but the first one I found comfortable.

Brooks or Asics for me.

When I played baseball I love Mizuno baseball cleats.

Has anyone tried barefoot running shoes? I used to live near a soccer field and I would run barefoot there. I'm thinking about getting some barefoot shoes but not sure which to get.

I always question why some of the new "running" shoes have such thin sole, since the point of the shoes is to cushion the impact on your feet and knees. Without proper cushioning, you can develop knee problems over the long term. As far as brands go, I prefer Asics, although I might give New Balance a try.

Humans did just fine for millions of years without shoes.

All that extra padding actually hurts you. Big giant padded heels only encourage you to heel strike harder. Your toes are crammed in the pointed front because you have 3 inches of memory soft air gel foam bullshit.
