Humans did just fine for millions of years without shoes.

All that extra padding actually hurts you. Big giant padded heels only encourage you to heel strike harder. Your toes are crammed in the pointed front because you have 3 inches of memory soft air gel foam bullshit.
The average life expectancy for most of that was 35 years or less. The average US life expectancy was under 50 in 1900.

What does this mean?

Most of humans history didn't have them jogging in their forties or having to use their ankles, knees and hips in their 70's.

Say your heel hurts when you run... Rather than fixing your form, you go buy shoes with more heel padding. This only encourages you to heal strike more, making the problem worse.

Well your logic began with "Humans did just fine for millions of years without shoes." No, humans didn't because they haven't been around for millions of years. Second, they did fine? Are you sure about that? Should we extend this to no one wearing shoes and not just runners? Lastly, there are hundreds of inventions that "humans did just fine without" that have proven to be extremely beneficial.

I can't speak with authority to the science of it but I was getting callouses and having a lot of foot pain in normal shoes. I switched to zero drop, wide toe shoes and I'll never go back. My foot pain is gone and my knees and back are doing better too. Before I switched it got so bad that I had to find wide toe shoes and go half a size too big.

I've worn normal shoes a couple times since switching and it's so fucking weird. Normally I'd view something like this an appeal to nature fallacy but with feet I tend to favor wide toe zero drop as that is quite literally the way we're evolved to walk, modern shoes aren't something like tooth brushes or modern food and vaccines. One could make that argument about sitting in chairs for long periods or the amount of sugar in processed foods but those would be self evidently bad arguments.
 
~60 miles in on the Novablasts and they're easily one of the best all around shoes I've used. Definitely recommend. An added bonus is they fit so well and are stable/supportive to the extent that I don't have to use the orthotics that I've had for almost 20 years. Going to stock up on a few pairs.

Ever heard of 361 degrees? I haven't seen them in the wild, but the reviews were fairly positive for a cheap, carbon plated shoes.

Nope, never heard of them. They look interesting, don't think I've seen them before.

By the way, I looked at some Puma shoes, but I didn't try any. The Puma selection was pretty limited where I was at.
