What does Kamaru Usman need to do to surpass GSP as GOAT

Level headed and very fair post
To be honest I think even a couple of less defenses is enough, providing he continues to have no other losses

I think so too, if he get's 7-8 and is dominant with finishes and no questionable decisions then he's good.

Win a bunch more fights. I have Usman at like 3rd or 4th all time but with 3 more wins I might have him pass Hughes up for 2nd.

The sports is too Young for people to be assigning GOAT status.

Defend 4-5 more times against top competition.

Sorry, but that second Masvidal fight did nothing for him.

KOing a guy who had never been KOed and considered one of the gamest fighters in that regard? You could say their 1st fight did not much for Usman, holding the smaller striker in short notice against the fence, but the 2nd absolutely did.
Saying otherwise is like textbook example of the typical W/L geek shertard approach, so common around these boards. No way you conclude that actually watching those fights and knowing who Masvidal is.
Especially comparing it with a guy with one single finish in tittle defenses - and it was not the same caliber of finishing move he applied.

Few more wins against better quality opponents & to win the MW championship(which won't happen soon as he isn't going to fight Israel)

why does he need to the win the MW title to be the WW goat? Usman fought better competition than GSP. He also won 9 straight before getting a title shot.

Burns, Mas and Colby are not better than the guys GSP fought.

The Hendricks that fought GSP beats Burns, Mas and Colby

That version of Hendricks also beat GSP.
Yet barely beat Koscheck, Pierce or Condit.
Styles make fights.

Any of those guys you mention would be at least a very live underdog vs any other GSP tittle challenger.
All them were finished by Usman.
GSP only finished one tittle challenger, a LW in the decline who had arguably beat GSP in the past.

Better competition? Both fought the best of their era - GSP much more so - so what different level of competition you talk about? You dont play fantasy H2H match-ups when comparing fighters from different eras.

Keep fighting and take on the number one contenders. If he's going to call anyone out damn well make sure it's a weight class above and not below.

Who is GSP best win? Thiago Alves?

I rank a lot of guys over gsp as fighters.. as an athlete he's the goat..

That said usman will have to surpass him in defenses, record and titles.. nothing else would be fair..

No, he is not He'd not be an easy opponent for Burns, Masvidal or Colbi though.
Low level trolling btw

Not trolling at all, who do you consider GSP best win? I think it’s Alves, he ktfo Matt Hughes and beat Kos and was on a legit streak. Super dangerous opponent.

Toughness by itself does not make a match competitive, and it was very clear from the first fight that Masvidal was outmatched and outsized by leagues. Masvidal did nothing to earn that rematch, and the first fight was not competitive with nothing to suggest a rematch would go any different.

It was a simple money grab, and nothing more.

Dude, it DID go any different. Cut the BS.
Usman did what no other fighter - and Masvidal fought a whole lot of good ones - had done.
"Toughness by itself does not make a match competitive" WTF does that even means and how that relates to what we r discussing. Masvidal was not just tough, he is game as fuck, its not that he used to eat those kind of KO shots and took them, its that he was extremely hard guy to hit like that in the first place.

I'm not saying Masvidal is not game or good, I am saying he had no business in the octagon against Usman for a second time after that first fight. The first fight made it abundantly clear he was outmatched by a significant margin. You can wax lyrical about Masvidal's skills all you like. The fact is, he was promptly dominated, and it's not as if he climbed his way back to the top after a killer run to earn the rematch. It was a money grab in a division with few of those.

That he is hard to hit or had never been KOd is irrelavant. It was a money grab fight and little besides.

I would say Shields is his best win. Shields has wins over Woodley, Okami, Lawler, Henderson, Pyle, Kampmann, Maia, Daley, Condit, was on a 15 fight streak, and was the SF MW champion.
