What do you think of Weidman? (Revised Poll Options)

Hes been champ for a year..... The only reason these discussions exist is because people are already selling weidman as the mw goat. Weidman is legit no doubt but is he the goat? Hell no! Yeah he beat the goat but you can't win them all. Let's not get ahead of ourselves people. He will win some of course, but for sure he will lose one, therefore losing his status as goat, just like Anderson. You guys see the pattern? Weidman is the champion, but he's just as succeptible as everyone else. He's not the best, he's just an elite fighter amongst other elite fighters. We all know how worthless rankings are and this goat thing is just another ranking system, worthless!

Stop being so sensitive when your take on something doesn't accurately represent what OTHER people think. Fucking fascist
 
The options are still lacking. I think his wins over Anderson are legit. Weidman still has a loong way to go to be the mw goat though. But if he beats machida and belfort, I think he will be the best mw fighter in the division.

Eh I'm gonna disagree for a couple of reasons
Prefer quality over quantity, under THOSE circumstances that would make weidman 15-0(with 8wins over top10 opps./and even if he didn't finish anyone else it would still be 8 finishes out of 15 fights)
On top of that under THOSE circumstances he would:
-Beat ANDY silva(16 fight win streak/11 title defenses/consensus p4p#1 at the time/former cage rage mw champ/former shooto champ/7kotn/2sotn)
-then ANDY again
-then MACH(former ufc lhw champ/4kotn)
-then vitor(former ufc lhw champ/ufc hw tourney winner/5kotn/former cage rage champ
-then jacare(former SF champ/DREAM grand prix runner up/sotn winner)
-rockhold(former SF champ/kotn winner)
......That's pretty fucking impressive, and if you add the fact that those five guys have a combined. Win loss of 110-23, I really don't see any argument against weidman as mw goat
 
An option for 1-2 fights away from MW Goat is ridiculous. He is 8-10 title defences away from MW GOAT. By beating the champion you don't inherit his wins. He still has one solitary defence.
 
I wasn't impressed until the Munoz. The first Silva fight he got completely sucked into Anderson's game and won with a somewhat lucky, although spectacular, one punch KO. The second fight he looked better than Anderson. I can admit that, even as a huge Anderson fan. I wish it went the full 5 rounds so you could really gauge how Weidman would take control of the fight.

All that said, he has impressed me, but not enough to be called the MW GOAT or anything like that. Ask me again if he beats Machida and Vitor.

That's fine. At that point, Anderson still would have more top ten wins and he'd have top ten wins in three weight classes. He'd have more title defenses as well. He would have beaten a former LHW Champion in Griffin, a two division PRIDE champion in Henderson, beaten Rich Franklin who was a former champion, Vitor who was a former champion. I think you're overrating the accomplishments of many guys outside of PRIDE and the UFC as well.

Leben was 15-1 when Anderson beat him. Franklin was 22-1 and 24-2 when Anderson beat him. Hendo 22-6 after his PRIDE run. Marquardt 25-7. Cote 13-4. Leites 14-1. Maia 12-1.

You need to add some context to this stuff. Everyone wants to say Anderson beat some slouches, or nobodies or guys that weren't that good. Anderson beat former champions at different weight classes and went undefeated for years and had a ton of title defenses.

Think about it, if Weidman reaches Anderson's title defense streak (with his injury history or lack of fights per year), it would probably take him about four to five years. He'd be 34. Anderson won defending that belt 37 and almost forty fights deep. That's a lot of fight mileage. You add in the ways he's winning and it's a big mountain to climb for Chris.

This discussion is incredibly premature, as is a lot of these options in this poll. Chris is a great fighter, but we need to give it time.
 
Weidman is great, he legit beat Silva twice - no matter what way you spin it, he beat him twice by TKO. That is an accomplishment.

However, he is not MW GOAT status yet. Fabricio Werdum & Bigfoot Silva didn't become GOAT by decimating Fedor. Chris needs to go on a dominant MW run before he can even be considered MW GOAT. Beat Machida, Belfort, Jacare, Rockhold & 2 more contenders of whoever rises at the time and he will definitely be considered for MW GOAT imo.

He deserves the MW belt for defeating Anderson twice. I neither make him as anything more nor less than that.

He's the legit undefeated fighter. Definitely not two wins away from beating the MW GOAT though. Longevity counts for some, so it will take him a couple of years before he's regarded as the MW GOAT.
