What did your grandparents do?

my grandparents on each side were farmers and merchants. just like most people who lived in rural mexico were.
 
Father's side:
Grandad - architect. Grandmother - farm worker (she is from a farm)

Mother's side:
Grandad was a sergeant in army based in Moscow. Grandmother worked in Chemistry
 
Mom's side. Grandad worked for a power company. He started out as a linesman and worked his way up into management. Grandma was mainly a stay at home mom. She did work as a nurse and in a fruit processing facility for awhile.

Dad's side: grandad apparently had a tough life. His father lost his farm in a freak storm that killed off much of his cattle. The family then moved to a large city. The dad got a good job working at a hotel as a mechanic. At some point a gang beat him up. While in the hospital recovering he became addicted to painkillers. He seems to have become a drug addict after that and wasn't able to support the family. So at a very young age granddad was pretty much on his own. For awhile he worked in a lumber mill and seriously injured his back. He didn't work much after that. He helped his father in law with his cattle business. There were a few hobbies his had, one hobby being a rock hound. He went on to discover a source of uranium, which for awhile became a large mining operation. Grandma was a stay at home mom, along being a voluntary nurse.
 
Mom's-
Grandpa was a carpenter by trade but was always on the run because of left-wing political activity. Got persecuted, jailed, tortured. He met my grandma while on the run from the laws. Grandma was a farmer/homemaker.

Dad's- Farmers
 
Mother's side: Gi-chan (grandfather in Japanese) was a farmer and owned land in Iwakuni Japan. He enlisted in the Japanese military for WWII. He died unceremoniously leaving my Ba-chan, mom and two aunts fatherless. Japanese government then took all their land in War-time and never gave it back.

Dad's side: Gramps was a farmer in Oregon. He died while leading a team of horses and wagon crossing a river. He slipped on the rocks and the wagon ran him over. He either drowned or was crushed by the wagon wheel or both.

I never met either of them.

Dads side:
Military in ww2 , then whatever. Grandma, state worker, but seemed more like a professional gambler to me. I was the first from that side to get a college degree, to this day.

Moms side:
Military ww2, navy, he was a lawyer for the state, she was stay at home, but was awesome. I spent a lot of time with her growing up. Her kids are weird though, my mom and her brother. Grandma died in a nursing home in 2016, still miss her.
 
Maternal: Farmers. Granddad died of stomach cancer but ended up owning quite a bit of land before that. Grandma was the daughter of a large landowner but eloped with my Granddad so he didn't get any of her family's land.

Paternal: More boring, my Grandpappy just worked for the government in his home country and retired with a decent pension. I think my Grandma on this side was just a traditional housewife but she may have worked from home.
 
Dads side:

Grandad was a tank driver in WW2, spent his life in construction after
Grandma skipped 2 grades in school and became an architect

They died penniless with half of their kids/grandkids not speaking to them...it’s complicated

Moms side:

Grandad was a beer salesman who got meningitis at the dentist and died when my mom was 5, she was the youngest of 10

Grandma never worked a day in her life, married an asshole with like 10 kids after grandad died - Brady Bunch on steroids
 
Both from the depression era.

Dad's dad: High School dropout, and worked in the steel mills. He was old school/blue collar to the bone, and cool as hell.

Mom's dad: Grew up as a farmer, started his own Excavation/Asphalt company. Made a lot of money in his life helping buildi roads/highways/parking lots in the Greater Cleveland Area. However, aside from the Mercedes that he would only drive with my grandma/family, you would never know it. His daily driver was a Mac utility truck, because you never knew when it would be needed, and even after retiring he would wear a button up shirt, dickies work pants, and suspenders until the day he died.

Share cropped. I didn't know my grandfather well as he died when I was very young. He was one tought man from all the stories told. He had 16 kids in all.
 
my grand pops was from Sicily and took up masonry when he arrived in the US.
my grandma was from Roma and had a bunch of kids and cooked all day, especially
on Sundays.
 
Paternal grandfather - aerospace engineer. Worked on every space program’s navy systems including the shuttle

Paternal grandmother - nurse

Maternal grandfather - sailor in youth; janitorial supplier wholesaler later

Maternal grandmother - payroll department at a nursing home; ironically she was pretty much ready for the nursing home by the time she retired.

My grandfather was a drinker...back in the day he put 'em down...but a war is known to change a man...the whiskey's known to change a man...
 
1 grandma was a bartender other was a stay at home mom. 1 grandfather owned a successful bakery and was a millionaire who had nothing to do with us other grandfather was a truck driver.

I've never really met any of them
 
Moms side was a bar owner/tender then immigrated and became a custodian

Dads was farmers
